I recently suffered my second attack of biliary colic caused by my gall stones which proved to be a very painful experience. I was referred to Mr Appleton who suggested the removal of my gallbladder which would give me peace of mind that I would not suffer this pain again. Being a very nervous person regarding medical intervention of any sorts, I found on meeting and discussing the situation with him I was very soon put at ease with his calming and professional nature. Going forward to the point of time for the operation, I felt that I could not have been in better hands. The operation proved to be a complete success and I was so very pleased with the level of care I received from not only Mr Appleton, but from all of the nursing staff at the Chiltern hospital. I did however require a slightly longer stay in hospital due to blood pressure issues, but this was purely precautionary. On my return home I received a telephone call from Mr Appleton late in the evening enquiring on my wellbeing and believe it or not, apologising to me because my stay in hospital was extended by a few hours. Mr Appleton is a truly kind, caring and professional man and I would strongly recommend him to any person who found themselves in need of any medical treatment.
I was treated by Mr Appleton for an umbilical hernia at BMI Chiltern hospital in July 2016. The operation was very successful and I can't recommend Mr Appleton highly enough for both his professionalism and caring demeanour.

I was referred to Mr Appleton by my GP following severe gall bladder pains. From the very first impression to the day I was discharged, Mr Appleton was friendly, interested in my condition, highly professional and reassuring.
He described the key-hole surgery simply and clearly, talked about before, during and after the operation and listened to my ramblings about my history.
The pre-op consultation, the procedure and post-op visit to my bedside in the ward, were faultless.
Consultants are highly qualified and experienced individuals and have the right to be haughty about their expertise, but Mr Appleton didn't play any of these superiority cards, just gave complete confidence and calm reassurance, respecting the nervousness patients may be feeling and avoided unnecessary jargon and complexity.
At the consultation 3 weeks after surgery Mr Appleton treated me as if I was his only patient! He remembered things about my sport activities and easily referred to these in terms of recovery pace and intensity, which made me feel I was well understood and not a generic patient on the production line!
Needless to say, the procedure was a complete success and the post-op recovery matched what I had been told. The scars are tiny and I would strongly recommend him to anyone needing similar treatment.
The team working with him in the hospital were all obviously pleased to be working with him, held him in high regard and openly shared their confidence in his abilities and clearly respected him, which was not surprising from all the encounters I had with this excellent consultant.
At the first consultation Mr Appleton was friendly and helpful and gave a very clear explanation of my condition and the surgical procedure required to correct it.
Mr Appleton answered all of the questions and concerns that I had and I felt confident in asking him to carry out the operation on me.
The hospital admission and surgical procedure was carried out to my entire satisfaction and I am very pleased with the results. I would like to thank Mr Appleton and his team for what I can only describe as a thoroughly professional and faultless service.
friendly and professional, answered all my questions and seemed genuinely interested in my experience/recovery.Had 2 similar surgeries, both successful.
