Mr Goldsmith performed a femoral hernia repair for me at the Manchester Spire Hospital at the end of March. From my first consultation his knowledge and expertise were evident, which I found reassuring and confidence inspiring. He explained the diagnosis and treatment options to me clearly and in terminology that could be easily understood. I was fully involved in discussions and any questions or concerns were addressed and taken account of. Mr Goldsmith quickly arranged the necessary scans, telephoned me promptly with the results and organised my admission within a fortnight. The operation was performed with a spinal anaesthetic and sedation which worked well for me. The procedure was completed around 6.00pm and I remained in hospital overnight. Mr Goldsmith telephoned in the course of the evening to check on my progress and was there to see me early next morning. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly I recovered, only needing paracetamol for two or three days and able to be up and about as soon as I was discharged. Four weeks after the operation Mr Goldsmith telephoned for a consultation as I was not able to visit hospital because of the lockdown. As before the call was wholly patient focused with checks on my recovery, time given for questions and advice going forward, all of which was most reassuring. Throughout, Mr Goldsmith's professional skills and expertise have been outstanding. Combined with these he has excellent, confident and assured communication skills and is wholly approachable, supportive and empathetic. I am greatly appreciative of the skill and care I received from Mr Goldsmith and would recommend him to others in the highest possible terms.

I visited Mr Goldsmith whilst suffering much discomfort from what transpired to be a double hernia. He listened to my explanation, examined me and provided great reassurance that the problem would be rectified. This was subsequently achieved two weeks later. The surgery was prompt and relatively pain free. I went to theatre early in the morning, was back by mid day and on my feet by 3.00pm. Went home at 6.00pm. I only needed paracetamols for 2/3 days afterwards and could move around, albeit gently almost immediately. I am delighted with the lack of discomfort which is quite different to that from a similar operation, on the other side, some years ago. He certainly had the "magic" touch for me.
