I was very impressed from the outset as he explained my situation and gave me the options. He has been approachable and very considerate throughout.

Really pleasant individual, great at explaining things in a simple clear way. Also very competent and professional. The hospital staff seemed to like him as well, which is a good sign.

I needed medical attention following attendance at A&E on New Year's eve on a weekend and in the middle of worst pandemic in living memory. I tried to contact several consultants who seemed too busy and if available required complicated and convoluted processes before a consultation could be possible. Mr Arumainayagam and his Secretary Natalie Warner were responsive, helpful and willing to go the extra yard to help. I cannot express how grateful I am and I am totally confident to be in their hands

This was my first meeting with the doctor and he was very attentive to my questions and answered them quickly and convincingly.

Profile

I am a Consultant Urological Surgeon and the Clinical Lead (Clinical Director) for the department of Urology at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust). I am also the Lead Cancer Clinician for the trust.
I have sub-specialist interests in stone disease of the urinary tract (expert in rigid and flexible ureteroscopy and laser fragmentation, percutaneous nephrolithotomy and ESWL), and prostate cancer diagnostics having set up the transperineal template mapping biopsy service at my trust.
I have also recently implemented the new fast track prostate cancer diagnostic pathway for patients referred to Ashford and St Peter's Hospital, to ensure a quick and timely service to our patients referred with a clinical suspicion of prostate cancer by virtue of a raised PSA or abnormal examination findings. I also cover a wide scope of urological practice and can undertake newer treatments for benign prostate enlargement (Urolift, Rezum, Greenlight PVP, TURP surgery and evaluation for prostate artery embolization). I also treat bladder cancer, testicular cancer and a wide range of benign urological conditions.
I am passionate in aiming to deliver high quality patient centred care, with an emphasis on a holistic approach and collaborative decision making with my patients.
