The whole procedure from start to finish was handled extremely efficiently. In 15 days I was given blood tests and an MRI and today saw Mr Wanis to be told, with considerable relief, that my problem was an enlarge prostate.

I recently needed to have a template prostate biopsy and this was done quickly and effectively under local anaesthetic by Mr Michael Wanis at East Surrey Hospital, Redhill. Mr Wanis explained the procedure and the different stages - the procedure went much better than I had expected and I knew I was in good hands, I also recovered very quickly. I really appreciated Mr Wanis’ professionalism and kindness, also his and his team’s calmness throughout. Thank you.

Mr Wanis showed great patience and care for me as a patient for me during the procedure. He put me at ease, answered all my questions and dealt with me in a professional and courteous manner. Him and his team were excellent, I can’t speak highly enough of them.

Mr Wanis is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Surrey and Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust and Urological Cancer Lead. He also holds practicing privileges at Spire Gatwick Park, Ramsay Ashtead Hospital and Dorking Healthcare. He graduated from the University of Manchester in 2011. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England after completing the necessary examinations in November 2020. In October 2021 he completed his specialist training in the Sussex and Surrey region. He treats a broad range of urological conditions and has a specialist interest in men’s health as well as the minimally invasive treatment of kidney stones and benign prostatic enlargement. He is an accredited Clinical and Educational supervisor for urology trainees and was appointed Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2021 for his contribution to undergraduate education. He is passionate about medical education and is involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate training. He regularly teaches and examines medical students and urology registrars. He is widely published in peer reviewed journals and has presented his work at various national and international conferences. In his free time he enjoys football, tennis, travelling and playing the guitar.
