Mr.Kaliaperumal is an excellent surgeon. I suffered from Trigeminal Neuralgia for 18 years. The pain I was in was horrendous, not to mention the amount of daily medications I had to take - I really had had enough of this terrible condition. I had several brain scans where it was found that I had 2 veins compressing the Trigeminal Nerve. I was very fortunate to be referred to Mr. Kaliaperumal who straight away said he could operate - the surgery was Microvascular Decompression (MVD). Unfortunately due to Covid my surgery was postponed, however Mr. Kaliaperumal got me in for surgery as soon as possible which was in September 2020. The surgery has been a huge success. I am now pain free and have also been able to stop taking the medication which is wonderful. Mr. Kaliaperumal is so approachable, he explains everything in a way you can easily understand, he answers all your questions and very much puts you at ease. I’m very impressed by him, he is so professional but so friendly and caring at the same time. I had my surgery at the new DCN unit within the new Hospital for Sick Children & Young People in Edinburgh. I wouldn’t hesitate in having Mr. Kaliaperumal as my surgeon in the future - I wouldn’t want anyone else!! Margaret Bernard, NHS Patient

I had the great fortune to have meet Mr Kaliaperumal in 2009 in Beaumount Hospital in Dublin, he was my surgeon who operated on me to remove a large acoustic neuroma, every evening while I was still in the ICU he would tell my husband of my condition before he finished for the day. He was so confident in my full recovery that he instilled this confidence into us and how right he was 12 years later I have never looked back. He has a wonderful bedside manner explaining everything to myself and my husband which is very important in these difficult circumstances. I would highly recommend him to anyone. Our eldest son recently received emergency, life-saving brain surgery at The Royal Hospital for Sick Children. Under the skilled and caring expertise of Mr Kaliaperumal and his team, they worked magnificently through the early hours of the morning to stabilise our son’s condition and importantly remove both the tumour and alleviate the swelling in his head. Thereafter, he was taken to ICU and eventually Ward 7 as his recuperation gathered pace. Physiotherapy, Occupational Health, Speech Therapy, Oncology and Nursing Staff - all played their parts in providing a first class, integrated and comprehensive medical recovery plan until our son’s release from Hospital. At our time of critical need, the NHS excelled. The professionalism displayed, the quality of care on offer and the human decency and consideration shown throughout was testament to the outstanding service received from A to Z in the medical chain experienced at The Hospital. To all the staff, support services and importantly Mr Kaliaperumal and team - a huge thank you and debt of gratitude from our family and particularly our eldest son - for not only both being there for us but for delivering wonderful health care and human compassion that we will never forget. Thank you everyone at The Royal Hospital for Sick Children.

This was my second MVD operation, carried out by Mr Kaliaperumal at Dept of Neuroscience building at ERI. My first was at the Western General. At my pre op which was carried out 2 days before operation, I got the feeling that the Con Anaesthetist was trying to dissuade me from going through with the op. I must admit that I felt uneasy and unhappy about this, however my meeting with Mr Kaliaperumal brought me back on track and I went through with second operation and had no regrets. The after care in a single room ward was excellent despite covid raging around the country. I was in for approx 5 days, then discharged back home. Staff were efficient and jolly throughout, which was not easy for anybody under the circumstances. I worked in NHS for over 30 years, so can appreciate how much more attention, all departments need. Thanks again Derek Stirling

I would recommend Mr Kaliaperumal without hesitation, he was very polite and made me feel at ease in our discussion, he explained the procedure that I was to have very clearly by verbal and visual means. He also gave me every opportunity to ask any questions that I may have had and the questions I did have he explained them perfectly. I have also had two follow up telephone conversations with him since the procedure to see how I am getting on were I have explained to him after one year the procedure seems to be a total success as I am totally pain free now after suffering for a number of years. He has told me he will get back in touch with me in 12 months time.
