Having moved back to Cumbria in October last year I have been impressed by the prompt attention and care both at the GP practice and Westmoreland General hospital. When I attended the hospital in March 2020 all procedures were carried out on the one visit and recommendations told to me then.

Mr Jain listened to my symptoms an after various tests surgery was recommended which was carried out at Barrow-in-Furness General Hospital due to a cancellation. Despite initially thinking it was quite a journey (and expecting it would be Lancaster or Kendal) I had wonderful treatment from Mr Jain and the entire nursing team in Barrow and later in Lancaster when I attended as a day patient for removal of stent and catheter. The whole experience was good from start to finish and I can't thank Mr Jain and his team enough.

Mr. Jain was very professional and friendly during my consultation and went out of his way to find the best way to solve my kidney stone issues.

I had an appointment for a follow-up call after a successful operation to remove a trapped kidney stone on 2/3/20. The appointment was for 11:45 on Tuesday 23rd of June 2020. I am now a key worker at Cammell-Laird in Birkenhead. I work on an MOD program and working times are very strict. I am a Professional Engineer and so I am bound by a code of conduct, also. I also work long hours away from home. I gained permission to take the call, however there was no phone-call until 12:00. By this time I had gone back to work and could not take the call. I had to sit doing nothing for 15 minutes when the appointment was not kept and although nobody said anything I'm sure people were wondering why I had stopped working and comments such as "what are we paying him for" would be forthcoming if I did not return to work within a reasonable time (e.g. 15 minutes) so I'm sorry that I missed your call as my health is very important to me and I have taken much of the responsibility in changing my diet and lifestyle to prevent any further stones forming. In future, however I would be obliged if you would reschedule the appointment in the first instance, if for any reason you can not make the time that you have arranged with me. Had I been furloughed at home it wouldn't so difficult for me, however I returned to working full time on 8th June 2020 with Key-worker status.
