Mr.Irwin performed a miracle on my right arm which I have been in the most terrible pain with for the past year. As a musician that is excruciatingly painful and sometimes could not have the will power to perform. Following an initial consultation with him I was booked into The Spire Harpenden within a week or two and spent one night there following the procedure. He came to see me prior to and after the operation to see how I was and took total interest in my wellbeing while in his care. From the outset Mr. Irwin - the anaesthetist and the full nursing staff at The Spire Harpenden made me feel very at ease and relaxed during this whole episode which of course is a worry to anyone having any operation but have to say I could not have received any superior care or result no matter what the cost and must thank the NHS for funding my operation under Mr. Irwin and my stay at The Spire Hospital Harpenden. I am truly grateful to you all for making me whole again. Jeffery Marks

My total experience from initial consultation through to surgery and aftercare has been second to none. The urgency in which I was processed through the system was streamlined super fast and before I knew what was happening I had been booked into the most convenient Hospital (The Spire Harpenden) for ease of admission, operated on by Mr. Andrew Irwin the that afternoon and stayed overnight for observation. The nursing staff were wonderful looking after me and constantly checking on my progress and comfort and I could not have asked for anything more at any cost! It has been 10days since my procedure and have been back today to see Mr. Irwin for my post operative check and to tell him how delighted I am and that he has given me for the first time in over a year pain free movement in my damaged shoulder joints. Amazing.

Despite problems with the pandemic I was seen on time at all of my appointments. Everything was explained at all stages of my treatment and the care at the hospital was above and beyond. Aftercare has also been very good with Mr Irwin insisting on seeing me in person rather than zoom to assess my progress post-op.

I required surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in my left shoulder. Mr Irwin explained the process very clearly prior to the procedure. As it turned out out he had to carry out some other procedures in my shoulder. He came and saw me in the evening after the operation to check on me and to tell me what he had done with my shoulder. The care at the hospital was excellent. I returned to see Mr Irwin 3 weeks after the operation and was delighted to be told that he was very pleased with how successful the procedure had gone and that the range of movement already present was excellent. I cannot praise him highly enough for what he has done. A tip for other patients undergoing such procedures - make sure you do your physio exercises religiously as it makes such a difference to your recovery. Thanks to Mr Irwin and all the staff at The Spire where I was treated as an NHS patient - all were superb.

i cannot praise mr andrew irwin enough, he and his team made me feel totally at ease by explaining every thing to me, also i would like to praise every body at the spire harpenden from reception, porters, and every single staff member there, after my operation i was continually checked on my progress and even though it was late at night mr irwin came in and checked how i was feeling and he told me what he had to do for my operation, mr andrew irwin and the spire thank you very very much , and the after care service i received was first class
