I have had Dupuytens Contracture for a number of years in both hands, my right hand ring finger was especially badly effective by the disease plus i also had a problem with the little finger. Mr Read was my consultant at Hemel Hempstead hospital and recommended that have i have a operation to release the tendons in both my ring and little fingers in my right hand. Mr Read expanded everything about the operation which went ahead May 2019. I am so pleased with the outcome and can’t thank Mr Read enough for the skin graft and the release of my fingers. Mr Read has examined my hand since my operation and is very pleased with the outcome. I would like to say a big thank you to Mr Read and his team. Mr S Fountain

I saw Mr Read after experiencing extreme pain in my hand carrying out day to day activities. He advised me that I needed a trapeziectomy with ligament reconstruction. He told me it would be 3 months before I started to feel the benefit. He wasn't wrong. But after the operation and following extensive physiotherapy, 5 months on I have absolutely no regrets. I have just found the list of things I had stopped doing before the operation and can now do them all and with no pain.

In June I had a ganglion removed from my right wrist. Care given at both the consultation at Spire Harpenden and operation at One Hatfield Hospital was extremely good and the operation was carried out under a local anaesthetic. Staff at the hospital were pleasant and made very effort to make the procedure as painless as possible. I would definitely recommend Jeremy and his team

My appointment with Mr Read was for a second opinion on a problematic previously fractured wrist. From the first consultation he assessed the issue and gave me options adding his view as to where to start.I went with his recommendation which was the least intrusive, although this meant he had to remove the plate and pins . I’m now 4 weeks on from the operation with him and it’s like Ive got a new wrist .Im discharged from both a further Consultation and my Physio sessions. A great result for me .I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Mr Read for any hand ,wrist or forearm injuries .

I came to Mr Read for a 2nd opinion after my wrist (distal radius) fracture had healed badly, limiting the range of movement of my dominant right hand, and impacting my ability to pursue hobbies and sports. From the outset, he identified that there was a problem, and this was confirmed shortly afterwards by x-rays, which showed a malunion of the fracture. My thumb tendon had also been ruptured during the fracture, and he clearly explained how he would repair the tendon and restore the correct geometry of my wrist (via osteotomy) in a single procedure. It’s now eight weeks since the operation, and thanks to Mr Read’s excellent surgery and his colleague’s specialist hand therapy, I’ve recovered most of my range of movement and I’m well on the way to rebuilding my full wrist strength. In summary, I’m very glad I opted for a 2nd opinion, and I recommend Mr Read without hesitation for his reassuring manner and his expertise in hand surgery.
