Having just read an extremely negative review about Dr. Tickle (dated 3rd August 2021) which incidentally out of 8 reviews his was the only negative one. I couldn't help but think "Not only is he a total pratt but he must be talking about someone else" and certainly not the Doctor Simon Tickle I know! I've been a patient at Danetre hospital for 3 years now and have had many consultations with Doctor Tickle both over the telephone and face to face, some of which have gone well over the allotted time allocation, And especially that when you consider your average GP can’t get you out the consulting room door quick enough (that’s if you can get a face to face consultation) I can honestly say that you would be hard pressed find a more caring and understanding individual. Not only does he care about you but also about your family and the impact your gender issues might have on them. His advice is 100% honest and down to earth in his consoltations. And to be honest I feel that Doctor Tickle is a bit like a mate who is also a doctor Rather than just a doctor who is nice, caring, understanding, and absolutely “one of the good guys!”

Response from Dr Simon Tickle

Thanks so much. I really appreciate that and it is lovely of you to say those things. The person who wrote that bad review has had some extreme experiences growing up. I feel really sad that we were unable to help them and they ended up very angry with us too.

I don't feel Dr Tickle cares about his patients unless they follow the same ideology he does. He frequently makes rude/creepy comments to male patients and as soon as you end up on his bad side, you'll be stuck in appointment limbo for eternity. Rude and sound be avoided if you want to leave with any sense of self.

Dr Tickle is very kind and caring. He explains things using terminology I can understand and listens to me, I feel he genuinely cares about me and my wellbeing.

Words cannot express how much Simon has helped me since I started seeing him for my ftm gender therapy. He has taken interest in not only me but my family and he is always happy to talk to me and listens. I feel like he truly cares about his patients and I am forever thankful for the service he has provided me since the first consultation I had with him.

Dr Tickle was the first clinician I met at Daventry GIC. He demonstrated patience, listened careful and clarified any area that needed it. The consultation was comprehensive but felt paced, in fact it felt more like a social chat. There was plenty of opportunity to ask questions and I never felt pressured or rushed in anyway. In fact his consultation reminded me greatly of a GP tutor I once had who was highly respected for his clinic time keeping and clinical thoroughness. The summary of the consultation given at the end was clear and precise and the subsequent written report matched what we had discussed. Dr Tickle also ensured that the clinical question I had following the consultation was answered rapidly and continued to provide advise until my next appointment at the clinic. It would be nice if, once entering the clinic's care, you had a 'managing clinician' that was a single point of contact for your entire care and coordinated the required input from other clinicians. Dr Tickle did, in essence do that until my second appointment.
