I am under the wonderful care of Dr Alison Birtle. She has a natural ability to engage in conversation, not just in relation to ones own medical problem, but shows an interest in all other aspects of daily life which helps immensely in maintaining a good atmosphere. She shows a genuine delight in any positive results her prescribed treatment is producing, which in turn gives one the confidence to deal with what is otherwise a nerve racking experience. She’s simply the best.

What a wonderful person. Put me at my ease straight away. Having several other medical issues beside prostate cancer I was fearful and uncertain whether to even go ahead with any treatment. Dr Birtle explained everything in detail. Showed concern over my current conditions and other avenues she wanted exploring in order to rule out possible problems during treatment. She listened to all our questions and answered them in an honest and caring manner. I just had to give her a hug before I left our first meeting. Within a few days of seeing her I had a change of a current medication, an appointment for a full bone scan and had started treatment. This lady knows her stuff, she is charming, helpful and friendly whilst still being professional. The NHS has an angel working for them. I cannot recommend or praise her highly enough. Thank you Doctor B

I attended my first oncology appointment with my wife.We were both understandably apprehensive. we were invited into the consulting room by Dr Birtle and her smile put us immediately at ease. She was friendly confident and obviously knowledgable. We felt that our concerns were listened to, understood and addressed. At no time did we feel any time pressure. I am obviously not looking forward to starting chemotherapy but I do feel a lot more confident and secure about doing so.

It’s always a pleasure to meet Dr. Birtle, she has a wonderful ability to make you feel comfortable, she smiles and listens intently on your questions while responding positively and illustrates a very high degree of empathy, she is always fully prepared, having read carefully my notes/history prior to my appointment. I understand she must have a very busy schedule but never lets this influence the time she spends with me, frankly I consider her attitude exceptional and many of her fellow colleagues would benefit from her influences. Hopefully this fully reflects on my experiences when visiting Dr. Alison Birtle.
