I've had a few encounters with this hospital. Waiting times are always long as expected. One time I came in with severe stomach pain, waited over an hour in a and e to be seen. Once seen I then had to wait for a bed in a and e. Then I waited to be discharged and at 11pm they told me I wasn't being discharged I was being kept over night. Some 6 hours later than when I first came in at 4pm. I'd had friends come to make sure I was alright, but no one thought to tell me I was staying so they could bring me spare clothes despite me asking a good few times when I was leaving. Then every day after that for five days I was told I could go home tomorrow and tomorrow and so on until the day came and I was kicked out of my bed as it was needed for someone else and had to sit on a chair for an hour to wait to be discharged. Another experience involved coming in with a friend who had cut themselves and was in need of stitches. We came in at 4am and waited until 9am to get them stitches. No one else was waiting in a and e until 7am when two people came in. They then got seen before us, all the while we were told 'your friend is next' meanwhile he was bleeding through bandages with exposed bone. I understand hospital staff work incredibly hard and are always rushed off their feet. But I feel like there's no excuse to leave people waiting without a clue so long, especially when all they need to do is be honest and just tell you as a waiting patient what's happening.

I was recently a patient on Dulas Ward, undergoing vascular surgery for a blockage in my femoral artery. The medical treatment and nursing care I received was of the highest order, Each shift commenced with a professional and cheerful team leader introducing themselves to the patients, I felt secure and well cared for throughout my stay on Dulas Ward. I am grateful to Mr Chaku and his team in improving my quality of life by enabling me to walk in comfort, Thank you all.

If you want great care there's no better place. Everyone's professionalism and dedication was exceptional. Coming in as an emergency for a bowel cancer operation was a bit scary but this team of professionals made it easy! Even the food was excellent! A thank you seems inadequate for my potential 'life-savers'. However a very special thank you to my consultant Mr. Houlden, James and my anaesthetist - a dream team! Special thanks also to the day and night staff nurses and care assistants on Tegid A ward. Definitely an A team! I cannot really express my gratitude but I will never forget the care I had at Ysbyty Gwynedd. Thank you so much. Sue Williams ( Deganwy)

I would like to write a review of my experience of the CCU at Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor. My admission to hospital was, to say the least, a shock, having taken ill while attempting to walk up Snowdon. However, the care I received was first rate and I would like to thank everyone involved in my care. The nursing staff were always friendly, yet thorough in every aspect of their work. Nurses introduced themselves, explained procedures and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and relaxed. I don't feel I can mention any single person, as they were all amazing. Handovers at the start of a new shift seemed to be thorough, as everyone was well informed as to my condition. Dr Hanna was truly lovely, and reassuring. I felt he had a genuine interest in me as a person, and while his warm, quirky manner put me at ease, I had the impression that he is a skilled and knowledgable doctor. I would like to thank Dr Toby Wooley, who prepared my discharge notes at the end of his busy shift. Not only was I taken care of brilliantly, but so were my family. My 10 year old daughter was very upset to begin with, but the nurses were kind and flexible with visiting, which made a huge difference. Thank you to Gill, who took time to speak to my daughter about my stay in hospital. I was discharged with all the relevant paperwork to give to my local doctors in Devon, and copies for myself. As much as possible, the nurses explained what would happen on my return home. I would like to thank you all once more for your invaluable help, and send you my warmest wishes. Thank you: you do a great job!

We were in the CCU at this hospital. The first 2 days my husband was cared for but Shona who was in a very poorly state. Her dedication and constant care over thoes 2days was exceptional. It was hard to take in that she had not long been qualified given her confidence in all that she did. The care overall was exseptional _ Suzanne Kenyen gave my husband a pedicure and nothing was too much trouble even as far as to make sure I was looked after. Suzanne Edwards helped with the pedicure and also brought in home made cake, how caring is that. I have to mention all the staff how cared for my husband - Ginnie, Gill Williams, Nici, Rayna and the physics each and everyone must be applauded for their patience and unwavering care. I want to thank all the above for the phenomenal care given to my husband and last but not least the treasure Dr Hanna. I as well as my husband was cared for. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Anne Tanner.

I recently had a short stay in Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital, I had just been examined by a Doctor who told me that I had just had a heart attack, and that I would have to come in to hospital, I am not the best of patients at the best of times so, was not looking forward to it . I was taken to CCU, but in no time at all I was made to feel at ease when met by the staff, Kerry, Michelle, Naome and ward manager Suzanne, these nurses worked none stop to keep this ward ticking over, and whilst being so busy, still nothing was too much trouble for them. I watched while they dealt with the ward, the patients who seem to need something all the time, because they was not well enough to help themselves, Then when they came to me I was kept in the loop at all times as to what was happening to me, as was my family when they visited me. I write this review because when asked was I treated well in hospital. Yes i was these nurses helped me to understand what had happened to me and it helped keep up the good work and THANK YOU ALL ,MR Geoff isaacs

I was a visitor on Alaw ward last week where my friend is very poorly. I was there for over 20 minutes and the drip was bleeping the whole time I was there. The nurses and doctors could hear this irritating noise but made absolutely no effort to tend to the patient or the drip. Probably it was not important, but when about 5 or 6 nurses are playing a silly game and singing at the reception desk it would have been nice for just one of them to come and attend to it. I was not allowed by a close relative of the patient to go and seek help. I was absolutely disgusted. I have been a patient at the hospital recently and my care was ok. A few of the nurses are doing their job really well obviously, but others are totally inefficient. They are not doing us a favour by being pleasant, kind and efficient. They are doing their job for which they are paid for. Of course there are some awkward horrible patients but this happens in all workplaces. Awkward customers at a bank, shops, horrible colleagues. We all have to deal with different characters. My friend was also very cold and again I was not allowed to ask for an extra blanket. I am not sure why this was so and I really did not want to upset the relatives any more because of the sad circumstances.

The waiting time for my childs appointment in fracture clinic ran over 1 hour 30 minutes before being given told the clinic was running late. Which was already obvious. No reason was given for the delays or for how much longer we would be expected to wait. Poor communication by the the clinic as a whole. I more than appreciate emergencies can delay things but on this occasion this was not the case. Disappointing service indeed.
