My experience was a mix of good and poor. After an initial assessment, I was parked in a very busy corridor for 7 hours, exposed to all sorts of possible infection, despite staff being made aware that I have a severely compromised immune system due to having leukaemia. I was moved to an enclosed cubicle only when my husband reminded nursing staff of the situation.
I remained there over night following a scan and for observation, during which time I was looked after well.
Hi
All staff members that I had an interaction with were good and professional, however some were amazing, including my doctor lady, sorry I have no names.
Thank you.
Fast appointment made 24 hours after seeing GP. Appointment on time, and the photographer Deborah was kind, caring and showed knowledge and caring.
Quick and efficient, didn't have to wait

Excellent service, seen quickly
All in all I spent around about 18 hours waiting to be seen by a doctor. I appreciate A+E is a very fast paced and fluid environment, but I saw people come in and go who were seen a lot quicker than myself. I understand this is all priority based, but it’s very frustrating to wait for that amount of time and watch other people be felt with while you are in obvious pain and distress.
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service I received at the A&E department on 27th April 2023. My experience was marred by significant issues, including excessively long waiting times, staff lacking compassion and professionalism, and a concerning lack of follow-up on my treatment.
Firstly, upon arrival, I was appalled by the extensive waiting times, which far exceeded reasonable expectations. Despite the urgency of the situation, I was left waiting for an unacceptable amount of time without receiving any updates or explanations for the delays.
Furthermore, I was dismayed by the apparent lack of compassion and care exhibited by the staff. Not only were they rude and dismissive, but I also witnessed instances of verbal abuse among team members, creating a hostile and uncomfortable environment for patients.
Additionally, I am deeply disappointed by the failure of the medical staff to properly follow up on my treatment. Despite requesting to see the results of my head scan, the doctor failed to provide me with this information and instead abruptly left the room without explanation. This lack of transparency and communication is unacceptable and leaves me with serious concerns about the quality of care provided.
In conclusion, I find the service I received at the A&E department to be shockingly substandard and unacceptable. Immediate action must be taken to address these issues and improve the quality of care provided to patients. I expect a prompt response and a thorough investigation into this matter.
Completely unorganised from start to finish. Was told 10 hour wait, it took 16 hours only to be used as a lesson for 2 trainee doctors to prod, poke and ask the same questions over and over. When someone is very ill and has been sat in a chair waiting to see a doctor for 16 hours, I do not know how it is deemed acceptable to think that would be a good opportunity for two trainee doctors to ‘have a go’. They repeatedly asked the same unrelated questions and the doctor in the corner did not intervene. Totally unacceptable. They did not listen. I didn’t receive any fluids despite being very ill, dehydrated etc. had a cannula in my arm for nothing. Poor and will never return to this hospital, better chance at home in your own bed.
Exceptional service, quick efficient, supportive and attentive. This was mirrored from reception staff all the way through our visit.
