Thank you from the bottom of my heart for performing my cataract operation. Words cannot express how grateful I am for restoring my vision. It was the best birthday present I could receive. I was very anxious on the day but your staff were so caring and professional that they helped me to relax. As you are aware I have visited the Eye Clinic on numerous occasions and have always been treated with utmost care. Please pass on my gratitude to all the staff involved in my care and treatment. I was seen by Mr Patel for the first time in May and was very impressed with how thorough he was. I also received a copy of the letter he sent to my GP within a week of my appointment which was very detailed and really useful to have. I received a follow up appointment in August in spite of the COVID-19 situation and Mr Patel warning me that it might be delayed, and was again impressed with the way Mr Patel explained everything and listened to my questions and answered them. He was pleasant and approachable. I was slightly concerned about visiting a hospital at the moment but found James Cook University Hospital to be well organised, very clean and with clear signage and people to guide you. The Ophthalmology Department was excellent, very well organised for the current COVID-19 situation and with very friendly and helpful staff. I would definitely recommend Mr Patel as an eye specialist and following his advice and treatment my eye condition has improved.

One word to describe Mr Patel - Amazing! The experience from start to finish was first class, I was made to feel at ease and that no question was a stupid question. Mr Patel even rang me personally to ensure I was ok after my operation - I spent hours researching consultants to ensure I got the best and I achieved it!

From the start to the finish of my corneal graft I received the very best care and I felt reassured and comfortable in an environment I had never been in before. This department must be one of the busiest in the hospital but care was not compromised at any time. Thank you to all the staff and a special thanks to Mr Patel and his team.
