I was very pleased with the care and attention I received
Some issues with communication between nurses
The nursing staff are a credit to the hospital.
Very friendly and professional service giving me peace of mind about my pain free procedure
I chose James Cook vs private hospital for my op due to specialised equipment being available for the surgeon which wasn’t in private hospital .
The care was very good with all staff being professional and respectful.
The ward was busy so my only issue and as I was only staying one night not major was overnight admissions which meant that it was noisy and not easy to rest . However I’m not sure what the solution would be? I also wasn’t offered pain relief and had to request it when required. It was then brought to me fairly quickly .
Food options were good and quality also not bad
Discharge process was slow with a long wait for medication’s from pharmacy
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hospital
I have just had laparoscopy surgery. As soon I said I’d like to be discharged (but explained it would take my husband 1.5 hours to drive to the hospital to get me) I felt like I was just turfed out of the bed into a chair which was very uncomfortable for me.
It was a long walk from the ward to the car park and I was not offered a wheelchair. I also left with no leaflets on after care, I had to proactively ask when and how I shower, when do I change dressings etc but I’ve not been told when I can exercise, how much I should be moving, when I can be intimate etc.
Also what was discussed between the surgeon and I for the outcome was not actually done but he was not there the next day to tell me so I had to hear it second hand from someone who could not explain the ‘why’.
Overall I am very upset about the outcome and what was done in my surgery and I also do not feel cared for. I know surgery is common the hospital staff but I’ve never had an operation and it is scary being sent away with no real aftercare
The care overall was amazing, I was well informed of the plan for the surgery and for my time in the hospital afterwards beforehand, and then kept informed throughout my stay.
Not in a private room. Procedures etc all on time.
The Surgeon and Anaesthetist were excellent and their care and expertise I fully believe resulted in my rapid recovery.
Whilst on the ward all the staff were courteous and kind and I was well looked after.
The Hospital and the surgery team were great.
