At present have only progressed through initial consultation, MRI Referral, MRI and follow up consultation on ZOOM due to covid so far. Despite the sterile nature of Zoom and lack of 1:1 interaction face to face I was put at ease from the the first point of contact with Mr Laing and then during the consultation to review the scan it was clearly explained, with my questions clearly answered. His secretary went out of her way to ensure I was seen quickly, and that the scan and follow up was within days of the prior appointment. About to progress to Surgery and despite being concerned due to the nature I know I'm confident i'm good hands.

I felt that Mr Laing did not listen to me reference my current symptoms (neck pain, recent elevated pain in my left side of my whole head, pain in both arms) how it is effecting me and my wellbeing and therefore point me in the right direction with a treatment plan, whether it was with himself or another specialist. He put it down to old age and that there are many people who suffer from the same symptoms. I now question whether I was actually with the right specialist or indeed the right consultant. I now find myself not knowing what I can do to help dealing with my current pain despite having seen him.

I have been cared for by Rodney Laing over the past few years with four separate operations. I have always found him positive and helpful, especially the most recent operation during the pandemic when I needed emergency surgery. A very kind and likeable man.

I am very happy with the advice provided. My GP suggested that certainly no surgical procedure was possible at all and the only option was physio and painkillers, however indeed a safe and effective procedure is possible. Without the consulation I would have had no further options but now I am fully informed.

I had a consultation with Mr Laing yesterday. He was charming, pragmatic and reassuring. He offered me surgery having explained in detail, the issues. The relief, after six years of increasing pain, is huge. I found Mr Laing kind and personable, and clearly he is a surgeon at the top of his game. I have every faith in him.
