In any respect I was completely happy with the treatment on my spine from Mr Laing. The procedure he recommended was very effective at completely eliminating my overwhelming pain from sciatica. Everything went extremely smoothly and I continue to be completely pain-free and therefore delighted!

On the day of my operation I felt absolutely terrified! Dr. Laing came to see me before I was taken to surgery. I found Dr. Laing to be extremely reassuring and immediately felt safe in his hands. Dr. Laing has a very calming persona and made me feel that everything would be fine. During my consultation two weeks after surgery, he took the time to listen to me and reassure me when it was needed.

Mr Laing was recommended to me by my NHS orthopaedic surgeon. My first consultation with him at the Nuffield hospital Cambridge was a positive experience and Mr Laing was friendly, down to earth, with a positive manner. He listened carefully to my symptoms and explained the MRI report to my husband and I. He gave me hope that my surgery would still allow me to have an active retirement and continue with my hobbies. I felt I could completely trust his judgement and honesty and his very experienced surgical skills, this was a huge relief having been previously fit and well and now facing surgery for the first time. My surgery - anterior cervical decompression of C4/5 and C5/6 with cages, was undertaken a couple of weeks later at the London Bridge hospital. I was looked after extremely well by Mr Laing and all the staff whilst I was there. I recovered well to go home the next day and made good progress, loosing the majority of my symptoms on the third day which was amazing for me. I had no pain and a full range of movement in my neck. I have gained confidence to do more and more with the encouragement of Mr Laing’s positive comments to me at my 3 month review on video link. I have good power and grip in my hands and regained balance and power in my walking. I am now back to doing my old hobbies and travelling again. I remain eternally grateful for being recommended to such a superb and dedicated surgeon and for being one of his patients. Mr Laing’s secretary Annie was extremely helpful, kind and attentive throughout my journey to organise the initial consultation, surgery and the review.

Having originally had a consultation with a neuro-surgeon in 2017, I was left petrified at the thought of the surgery they were advocating and determined to 'live with' my condition for as long as possible without having surgery. Early in 2023 my pain became so bad and with the increasing impact of limitations on my everyday life, I decided it was time to consider surgery again. Luckily for me, my previous consultant had 'disappeared' and after doing some research on alternatives, I came across Rodney Laing and had an initial online consultation. What a different experience this was......Mr Laing was very reassuring and down to earth. He explained clearly the procedure he felt would help my spinal stenosis (and reassured me that my other issue didn't need any attention as advocated by the previous surgeon), explaining in detail how this would be carried out and assuring me that recovery time would be relatively swift. From the very start I trusted Mr Laing implicitly. His professionalism and skills are well documented, but equally as important for me was that I had absolute confidence in the information he gave me and had no hesitation in agreeing to surgery in June this year. Within a couple of weeks I could walk without pain and three months later was back to doing other activities such as yoga and pilates which I had been unable to do since 2017, together with lifting and playing with my grandchildren. To say I couldn't be more delighted with the results of my operation is an understatement and I am very grateful to Mr Laing and his secretary Annie who had endless patience and was always willing to help with any questions or issues.
