Due to severe bouts of stomach pains over an eight month period I was referred to see Mr Goldsmith. From the beginning I felt completely at ease with his down to earth personality. He explained to me the causes and exactly what would be needed to stop the pain. The surgery I needed was made to sound very simple, resulting in me having full trust in him. I underwent a successful Appendectomy and was back home the same day. Within 1 week I was back to myself and had a follow up zoom call from Mr Goldsmith 4 weeks after surgery. I am delighted with the outcome and cannot thank him enough, no more pain!

Just want to add to my review since my operation I have had no reflux, or indigestion/wind etc. I feel great. After being on a liquid diet for months beforehand, I am now eating again almost normally after 3.5 weeks post op.

You won't find a better Surgeon! First spoke to Paul in April having been rushed into a NHS hospital with a strangulated hiatus hernia and having been sent home to wait, on a liquid diet, for surgery as soon as safe etc. with the pandemic situation. We found Paul through Spire and emailed him to see if he could operate more quickly. Paul immediately phoned me. My husband and I were so impressed with him, he had already read all my notes and looked at previous test results even before he picked up the phone to me. Unfortunately, the Private Sector had been taken over by the NHS with the Pandemic. However, Paul immediately organised my operation for me through the Spire at Didsbury, Manchester as soon as he was able to operate again. He is an absolutely brilliant surgeon, and explained to me in plain English how he was going to operate, as it wasn't straight forward. He completely puts you at ease, and on the actual day, I felt so totally reassured that I was in the best possible hands, I was surprisingly very calm! He is so lovely, and listens to you, and he genuinely cares about all his patients. There is no edge to this man, very down to earth and puts you at ease, which is so important when you are scared to bits! Even the staff in the anti room to the theatre said to me how kind he is to all the patients AND staff. After care is good too, he came to check up on me twice in hospital and phone calls when home just to see how I had settled. He also squeezed me in for a face to face first post op appointment before his holidays, so I wasn't left too long. If you want genuine, attentive care, and an experienced, first class surgeon, don't look any further. I can't recommend him enough. (Always on time or even early too for appointments, never keeps you waiting)!!

I saw Mr Goldsmith twice before my operation to repair a Parasophageal Hernia. Mr Goldsmith was extremely easy to talk to, he listened to what I had to say and explained what needed doing and how this would be done. I had my operation on 13 July 2020 at Manchester Royal Infirmary and was looked after by Mr Goldsmith and his wonderful team of excellent healthcare professionals. I was discharged home on the 14th July to recover. Mr Goldsmith phoned me at home to check on my progress and this was very reassuring.
