I had my first consultation with Mr Shannak in April to discuss my hip replacement. He was very informative and discussed the pros and cons of having the surgery, I went away feeling assured this was the right treatment for me and confident I was in the right hands. My surgery took place in June although feeling a little nervous Mr Shannak and his team explained everything that was going to happen. The surgery went well with great care from the team at the Three Shires hospital. I am now in my 5th week of recovery and completely pain free and progress is going well almost back to normal. Thank you Mr Shannak and your team for giving me back my freedom

I was treated by Dr Odei Shannak for a right hip replacement, He was very professional and reassuring. He explained the procedure in detail------what his role was and how I could help myself, so I felt very well prepared. In hospital, I was introduced to the whole of his team, both pre-op and then was checked on during recovery. I was treated with great care and attention at all times and have made excellent progress through following the suggested exercises ,walking programme etc. I am returning for a left hip replacement soon and feel confident that Dr Shannak will have me fit and mobile as quickly as possible.

I felt calm and in good hands, I was explained about the procedure, and what i was to expect in the aftercare. They were thorough, and went by the book. I was expecting less due to the current situation with covid. but everything was good. The after care was good too, but I was a good patient and stuck to the exercise program, There was sufficient pain relief, for the after effects of the surgery. We all feel we can run before we can walk. I feel that as I stuck to the ice therapy and exercise so aided my recovery. I know i could of pushed myself to do more but didnt want to hinder my recovery by doing too much. I felt that staying in one position for too long made my knee ache and stiffen, so made sure i was moving and changing position throughout the day. I'm looking forward to doing longer walks as time allows and as my staminar improves. This was my second knee replacement the first right side was done five years ago. The second was more successful, after the first ... i had one operated knee and one damaged knee so recovery was more, not walking unaided until about 4 - 6 months but by then the left knee was totally shot. I had the added pressure of falling when the left gave way at least once a week, and damaging my back. having to be on stronger pain relief. after the second surgery having a fixed knee to rely on with the operated knee was a completely different experience. to have no constant grinding and stabbing in to my knee and be completely pain free was out of this world. I found my smile again. I do have to make the muscles in my back stronger which i can do in time. now that i am pain free in my legs. im looking forward to getting onto the cross trainer and going swimming.

Following a break in my femur, I required emergency hospital care resulting in a full hip replacement. This was a very traumatic time for me, being relatively young (54) to have this procedure. Dr Shannak carried out the operation, using I believe, the very latest type of hip replacement, one which should last much longer and therefore hopefully not require replacing. Surgery went very well, as did my recovery. I have been for two follow up appointments with Dr. Shannak, both of which he was present for. He was very happy to answer all of my questions and I can only give my thanks for his care.

I had been bothered with hip problems for some considerable time. My initial consultation with Mr Odei Shannak was in early February. I found him to be most affable and personable. With his measured approach he suggested an intraarticular injection in order to ascertain if it would help manage the condition. This was done within 2 weeks and I am pleased to say the results to date have been excellent. Nevertheless if at some later date surgery is required I shall have full confidence and trust for this to be performed by Mr Shannak.
