Neal Jacobs recently carried my relatively simple, elective ankle surgery entirely successfully. There had been a number of options as to how to best proceed - these he clearly and sympathetically explained before we agreed the way ahead. Post surgery follow up was straight forward and satisfactory given the lack of complications and restrictions due to social distancing requirements. His easy charm ensured that our few meetings were relaxed and constructive.

My initial consultation with Mr Jacobs was mid December. He immediately put me at ease with his quiet & unassuming manner. We discussed a number of medical issues, none of which caused him the slightest concern. At my request Mr Jacobs agreed that he could fit me in for an operation before Christmas, which allowed for the immediate recovery time to be over the holiday period. My surgery was neat with no problems. Post operatively I have experienced fewer issues than what he advised could be the case. I was very happy with the whole process, his secretary was very efficient & friendly & I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Jacobs for his competence & reassuring manner.

I spent 7 months trying to get to the bottom of a concerning foot issue but unfortunately to no avail. In sheer frustration, I researched a suitable foot and ankle specialist and decided to consult Mr Jacobs whom I believed would be able to help me. Within the first 5 minutes of my initial consultation, Mr Jacobs had identified the cause of my problem where other healthcare professionals had failed. I was extremely impressed by his superb oral and written communications, which revealed a comprehensive understanding of my condition, a highly detailed approach and an ability to translate complex medical terminology into simplified explanations, supported by a drawing! Whilst his approach may seem modest and slightly understated , it belies an empathetic and caring professionalism. I subsequently had an operation as a day patient to correct a plantar plate tear, a hammer toe which had subsequently developed and an existing hallux vulgus deformity. This operation was a complete success, and I was very surprised at how little pain I experienced afterwards ( a mere 2 days of modest discomfort), which can only be put down to Mr Jacobs' expertise and that of his anaesthetist. I have received excellent aftercare and attention and I cannot commend Mr Jacobs highly enough. He is very patient and importantly for me , was able to re-assure me and provide detailed and sound advice as to my rehabilitation and resumption of my sporting interests. I would strongly urge anyone reading my review to contact Mr Jacobs in preference to any other consultant in this discipline.

An increasingly painful foot problem led me to search for an orthopaedic specialist who could help me to regain enough mobility to enjoy a full life. Mr Neal Jacobs seemed to be that person and from the first consultation, through surgery until my discharge, I felt totally confident in him and knew I had chosen well. For his genuine interest and concern to improve things for me, for his patience in explaining every option and for his undoubted surgical skills, I owe him my sincere thanks.

I was recommended to see Mr Neal Jacobs after I developed problems and pain within my right ankle and feet after an accident. I contacted his secretary Yvette Holmes who was very polite also very helpful, and got me an appointment the next day. Mr Neal Jacobs listened to me and understood the complex nature of my problem, and took into account my complex medical history. He gave sound advice and explained everything to me, so I could fully understand each stage of the process. Mr Neal Jacobs organised appropriate X-Ray and MRI scans, which were carried out on site on the same day, or a few of days later in the case of the MRI. This was to help identify the key problems and allow him thoroughly and extensively to investigate and to provide me the best care and out come to suite my needs. Mr Neal Jacobs having found the best course of action, arranged an appointment soon after the results had been compiled, this was to again explain in detail the findings and to fix the problems. He in my case recommended surgery, Yvette Holmes was exceptional at catering to my requirements and ensuring I was happy with what was going on and filling out the paperwork. Yvette Holmes organised my surgery within a month of my last appointment with Mr Neal Jacobs, but due to circumstances out of my control I was unable to attend, this was not a problems and the New Hall Hospital team understood and Yvette Holmes re arranged once my circumstances changed. Yvette Holmes booked me in again very quickly for my operation, once arriving at the New Hall Hospital the staff were very polite and couldn’t do enough to help. As it was my first operation I was very nervous, and had lots of questions to which the staff, nurses, and operating team were happy to help explain. Mr Neal Jacobs came in to talk before the operation and go thought everything so I was happy! After the operation the New Hall Hospital team looked after me in my own room, attending to everything I required they were helpful and made me feel at easy. They helped me with walking equipment and medication, after monitoring me they gave me all the information if I needed help and allowed me to rest and recover at home.- I recovered for about 2 weeks after the operation, at which point Yvette Holmes arranged for me to see Mr Neal Jacobs again to have my stiches removed and consultation on to how the operation went and physiotherapy. Within the third week I was walking un-aided again, and on the road to recovery! Mr Neal Jacobs was happy to hear from me after the recovery period, and was happy to give excellent advice. He was excellent thought-out the process to write and communicate with my GP and other specialists, ensuring all parts of my care team were aware of what stage I was at as part of my operation and recovery.
