All ok apart from incident where possible heart condition indentified at pre-op assessment in August 2023 was not followed up or shown to anethetist until the day of the operation on 1st Sept 2023 (I think). Surgery was then postponed until 3rd January 2024 to allow for echo cardiogram.
I was pleased when told that my operation was going to be done at New Hall, as my wife was treated there, for a Hip Replacement, and she couldn't fault anything with her care and surgery, not that I would mind if it had been at Salisbury District Hospital, as I had Knee Replacement done there years ago, and I could't fault the way I was looked after.
The consultant surgeon Mr Harshad Dabke and all the staff at New Hall were excellent in leading up to my surgery and after care, and my treatment was successful, many thanks to all concerned.
This is to express my appreciation for the outstanding service I have received as a patient at New Hall Hospital.
Yesterday, I underwent a left sacroiliac joint rhizolysis with Mr Nick Evans. In addition to being a highly skilled surgeon, Mr Evans also has great personal qualities of care, compassion, and empathy, as do all members of his team.
These qualities were also shown by everyone I encountered at New Hall. Everyone greeted by name and with a smile and asked if I had any concerns. Thank you to all concerned.
I was treated like I mattered and was very well looked after.
My surgeon, the anaesthetist and the nursing staff were all excellent.
The reasons for the lower scores are all connected to the difficulties in communication which I experienced prior to surgery. It was often impossible to reach the right person by phone. At least two vital letters were delayed, one which would have given me an operation date, and another which would have given a financial quotation in time to organise payment in stages. Both these delays caused me stress and the latter meant that we had to raise funds at the last minute, within the last two days in fact. I do not think that this is acceptable.
Re the phone system. I have today contacted New Hall about a physio appointment. I once again could not be connected to either reception or physio when ringing on our landline. When my husband suggested the mobile as a last resort, I did get through. This may be a problem of which you are unaware.
Hospital and staff, extremely welcoming.
The staff were incredibly nurturing and friendly. Total put me at ease.
I felt very cared for and nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were all very reassuring and made me feel as comfortable as possible. Even the kitchen staff went above and beyond to accommodate my needs and preferences.
Really lovely staff and after care. Room was comfortable with an en-suite bathroom. Good food and very caring staff.
Iv had a couple of surgeries done at New hall hospital both as nhs and private patient and both times the service was amazing
