I was referred to BVH for lung surgery and Professor Bhittar was my consultant.
He explained the procedure and aftercare in a calming, caring manner, which helped process my fears.
Prof headed an exceptional team of thoracic surgeons who I believe saved my life , hopefully.
I owe you so much, thank you.
Would highly recommend and trust this man again and to anybody needing reassurance with future surgery and care.
Also the anaesthetic team , theatre staff, intensive care, wd 38, Bernie the lung nurse and secretaries who contacted me.
Thankyou again to you all.
All this experience headed by Prof Bhittar helped my quick recovery.

After I suffered a heart attack I was told that I required a heart bypass operation. The procedure was thoroughly explained to me at every stage and the care I received was all I could wish for. I have made a good recovery, much better than I could have hoped for.
I feel that I have been given a second chance to avoid the mistakes I must have made throughout my life which led up to my heart attack. I am looking forward to regaining my former fitness and enjoying my life again.

In December 2022 I had to have a serious lung operation which was performed by Professor Bittar at Blackpool Hospital. This man is a genius, he explained the operation to me and gave me so much confidence that I felt truly safe in his hands.His wealth of experience and expertise is second to none, I cant praise him enough. This surgeon deserves a medal, thank you Professor Bittar I will never forget how you helped me through a difficult time nor will I forget your kindness.

I had complicated heart surgery comprising of double valve replacement and aortic arch repair carried out by Professor Bittar and his exceptional team at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. I could hardly walk before the surgery, and am now returned to normal active health. I understand the apprehension felt by patients waiting for heart surgery, but I can confidently assure other patients to trust Professor Bittar and the team that you will receive world class attention at Blackpool Victoria.

I have every respect for Mr bittar and his team on4th June I was admitted to Blackpool hospital after having a heart attack I required details
a double heart by pass the above surgeon and his team performed this on th15th iam most grateful to all concerned and everyone on wards 38 and 39 plus icu and intensive care I carnt thank you enough wonderful people I have a 2nd chance at life and fully enjoying it love and best wishes to all Paul read

I am a cardiothoracic surgeon, my practice is mixed. In cardiac surgery I have a special interest in aortic surgery, minimally invasive aortic surgery, I also perform the general cardiac operations ( CABG, OPCAB and valve surgery). In thoracic surgery, I deal with chest wall, lung, pleural and mediastinal surgical diseases. I have special interest in the minimally invasive approach (video assisted thoracoscopic procedures-VATS lobectomy) and fractured ribs fixation.
I am interested in research; my qualification is a Medical Doctorate M.D. from Manchester University in 2007. My thesis was based on inflammatory response to the use of cardiopulmonary bypass in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. This response was linked to certain genotypes of a certain polymorphisms.
My current affiliation is with the University of Salford, I am collaborating with researchers studying the myocardial cell dysfunction, the inflammatory response and its effect on the conduits that used in cardiac surgery.Recently I was appointed as a professor (Hon)@ the University of Salford.
