I first met Mr Gnanalingham at the start of August 2017 at The Alexandra Hospital. He sat me down and listened to everything I had to say I was suffering from terrible back pain, he was very patient and he told me about all the options available to me. Within 3 weeks I was in hospital having my operation and I cannot thank him enough. He talked me through every step on the morning of my operation as I was feeling nervous but he put me a ease. Once I was awake he came to see me and was really please with how it all went and that if I needed to ask him anything I could contact him or his staff which felt great. Then he handed me over to the nurses and I have to say the aftercare is fantastic they can’t do enough to help you. Really would recommend this doctor Mr Gnanalingham to anybody that needs a back operation he’s the best.

I was sent to Mr Gnanalingham after an eye test turned up a benign tumour. I was a bit of a state on our first meeting and he was very calming and excellent at talking me through the scans and what would happen next. He was so neat with the cut he made during surgery that I can no longer see it, a couple of months on. After the op he came in to see me and explain what had happened and 3 weeks later again everything was clear, calm and friendly. I couldn't have asked for a better surgeon, and am so glad to continue with him.

My mother r eceived nothing but great care and understanding from Mr Gnanalingham when he took her as a patient, from the pre op to the op, and then the post op process. A very likeable and friendly man - this makes a difference when one is concerned about their own health and wants their mind to be put at ease.

I have had a long term problem with my back and leg pain . Have had surgery many years ago under a different consultant which initially appeared to work but for the last few years have suffered badly with leg pain and numbness . My GP helped by prescribing me medication to resolve this keg pain and even though the medication was increased to huge levels I still had no relief . I had enough , couldn't take this any more . I saw my GP and asked for referral to see Mr Gnanalingham at The Alexandra Hospital . Within 2 weeks I had that consultation , he ordered an up to date MIR scan which was done very quickly and I was reviewed again . My back is in a bad way but the leg pain was due to impingement of a nerve from the spine into my leg . We discussed options if treatment and decided to try spinal epidural injections . This was arranged around my work commitments . I was admitted on Friday September 15th as a Day case and taken into theatre where the consultant did these . I went home the same evening and rested . By the Sunday i could not believe the difference it felt. Since then I have had no leg pain at all , I still have some back pain but the leg pain was the problem holding me back . I now walk much straighter. I feel confident walking and no longer have to stop every 6/7 minutes to rest . I have started to reduce these awful medication and feel great . This us all due to this fabulous man . Thank you so much .

I asked to be referred to Mr Gnanalingham when I was in constant, excruciating pain and barely to walk with a herniated disc and resulting sciatic pain, as I had heard he was a great surgeon. Mr Gnanalingham was very approachable and explained my options clearly. I decided to go ahead with surgery and felt in very safe hands. The surgical team were all so helpful and reassuring. The procedure was a success and I received very good after care. Some months later, when I experienced some moderate, recurring pain (probably as a result of overdoing it at the gym) Mr Gnanalingham responded very quickly, arranged a follow up scan and then spent time discussing exercise options and further management of the rehabilitation process with me. Eighteen months after my surgery, I am still so grateful every day that I was able to receive treatment from Mr Gnanalingham and his team, as this completely gave me back my health and quality of life."
