I saw Mr Auld with a recent right knee injury which he confirmed was a degenerate tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus in my right knee. I was extremely impressed with him, with the organisation and timeliness of my assessment, and the quality of correspondence received thereafter. I am a keen athlete. I have since looked at some of the medical literature in this area, and I am not remotely surprised that the advice Mr Auld offered was up to date and specifically tailored to my personal circumstances. It was very reassuring that he did not rush to recommend surgical intervention, and that he was realistic with what that could and could not achieve were it later offered. I recommend Mr Auld to anyone without hesitation.

I attended the clinic on the 24 th February after having to cancel my previous appointment with COVID. What a pleasure it was to have met this gentleman. Firstly mannerism ,smart ,warm and welcoming and a pleasure to meet. My time spent with Mr Auld was so rewarding as there was no rush throughout , during my examination and consultation . Where , as this professional gentleman was unable to help me himself sadly, he was able to pass me onto a colleague whom, maybe could help me with the health issues I have. I came away feeling that I could skip but on crutches would be a problem but there was that light at the end of the tunnel and hope , that help was maybe possible and not to far away. Thank you for your attention and care and only to happy to recommend you. Kindest Regards for your kindness and help. Carol Alderwick.

Mr Auld managed to revise his list at short notice to fit my Dad (who is 83) on to his list quickly (less than a week) in recognition of his constant pain affecting his mobility and sleep. He was clear, very and inspires trust. We would recommend his clinical care to others. A special thank you as to his nurse Lauren who was efficient, kind and patient.

Mr Auld listened to me, my worry and was very supportiveand understanding. He always always kind, caring and supportive. He explains everything in a way that is understandable and always checks your ok and happy with everything that has been said and done. Would defiantly recommend for a patient who suffers with anxiety and depression, he always made me feel comfortable and a very approachable man.

I saw Dr. Jason Auld for my initial consultation and he was excellent. He eloquently diagnosed my condition and explained a way forward, which put me at ease. I really appreciated the detailed nature of what the potential operation entails and how it is performed. I felt he could relate to my condition and managed my expectations by describing what would be realistic post-operation - in terms of movement and activities.

Profile

I was appointed as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon in Northampton in 2005. I completed my medical training in London in 1992, and went on to gain specialist Trauma and Orthopaedic accreditation in 2003 after completing my Higher Surgical Training at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. Further subspecialist Fellowship experience in hip and knee surgery was undertaken in Sydney, Australia in 2004.

I am a specialist in hip and knee replacement surgery and have a special interest in arthroscopic surgery of the knee in sports injury, including ACL reconstruction and cartilage repair techniques. In addition, I also manage all general orthopaedic trauma, including the acute treatment of upper and lower limb fractures and soft tissue injuries.

I am committed to ensuring the highest quality of care for all of my patients, both in the NHS and private sectors. I deal with every case on an individual and personal basis, allowing time to fully discuss conditions and their treatments before recommending any course of action. All patients undergoing surgery are assured of at least two outpatient appointments prior to their surgery, to ensure all their needs are met and questions are answered.

All patients are enrolled in an internet-based outcome scoring system to allow long term follow up after their surgery and ensure that any concerns can be addressed. I love to hear how my patients are doing after their surgery – often a postcard from far-flung places which they never thought they would be able to visit, or that they have managed to return to their favourite sport following injury.

Having an operation can be a daunting prospect. I assure all of my patients that they will be receiving the very highest standard of care. This includes the application of the most modern anaesthetic and surgical techniques, which deliver the most rapid return to fitness and improved health by a combination of proven interventions including optimal pain medication and rehabilitation protocols. I will only use surgical implants with proven excellent long-term results. In knee ligament surgery, I have adopted a low-morbidity technique for reconstruction using a single hamstring tendon graft, allowing a more rapid post-operative recovery and better knee function than conventional techniques.

Most importantly, I am honest in my approach. If the current scientific evidence is that a patient’s particular condition cannot be helped by surgery, I will advise accordingly.
