Friendly informative consultation my knee surgery was a complete success and would have no worries having the other knee replaced with Mr Hutchinson who has given me re assurance when further surgery is required

From my first consultation with Mr Hutchinson I felt confident that I was in the best possible hands. He explained the procedure throughly. I had a dual mobility Exeter left hip replacement on April 24th.2019.
Throughout my treatment I have found Mr Hutchinson to be very approachable with an engaging personality, making the whole process a pleasant experience.
His expertise in my particular surgery was evident, and he is obviously liked and well respected. He has great rapport with the team working alongside him.
I have no hesitation in recommending him to friends and family. Thank you so much Mr Hutchinson !

I had a total hip replacement on the 20th March. performed by the brilliant, Mr J Hutchinson.
I really can't praise him enough. He is so caring but his skill and enthusiasm for surgery is just so impressive.
At 5 weeks I am getting around better than I can ever remember and without pain or pills. Simply, remarkable.
I was on the enhanced recovery program, which suited me. So only one night in hospital and then home the next day.
A big thankyou for life changing surgery.

The surgeon, Mr Hutchinson was very professional, very reassuring and caring at all stages, from my first consultation to my discharge, which was yesterday (25/4/19).
It was not only him, but every member of his team gave me the same level of service and commitment.
I am nearly 88 years old and it was very apparent he respected my age but wanted to give me the best quality of life I could have regardless of my age. He made me feel that I was an integral part of this process and not just another body for him to do his job on.
Yesterday when he had a look at my knee, he was instantly delighted that the operation had been a great success and was positively beaming with pleasure for me that he had given me my life back.
I am the third member of my family that he has operated on 2 hips and 1 knee, and if ever anyone from my family or friends had have to orthopaedic surgery I would recommend him 100%. I cannot thank him enough for giving me my life back without pain and very limited mobility.

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Royal Derby Hospital and Derby Nuffield Hospital. I have been in my current post since 2002.
I specialise in primary hip and knee replacement, revision hip replacement and the management of periprosthetic fractures.
My medical school training was at The Queens College , University of Oxford and Addenbrookes Hospital, University of Cambridge. I carried out additional training in complex hip and knee surgery during a 12 month Fellowship in Perth, Western Australia.
I submit all my cases to the National Joint Registry and the outcomes of my last 3000 joint replacement cases put me in the top 5% of UK surgeons in terms of revision rate.
Hip and knee replacement is a real passion of mine- I firmly believe you only live once and that well performed hip and knee replacement prolongs good function and improves quality of life.
