I recently saw Dr. Clamp, a spinal surgeon at Derby Hospital, whom I had also seen privately in the past. During my private consultation, he recommended a C5 nerve root injection for my ongoing neck and arm symptoms back in April 2025 at Nuffield Derby. However, at my recent NHS appointment, he advised that there was nothing further that could be done other than taking painkillers, and he no longer supported the injection he had previously recommended.
My symptoms have remained exactly the same since January 2025, so I am confused and disappointed by the sudden change in medical opinion. Dr. Clamp also declined to consider a chiropractor’s report suggesting a C1 misalignment, even though other doctors, including those in pain management, have noted symptoms consistent with that diagnosis.
I now feel at a loss about how to move forward with my care and recovery, as this consultation has effectively closed the door on treatment options for my injury. I would appreciate clarification or further guidance from the hospital regarding my next steps.
Avoid avoid.
The hospital was clean. All staff were friendly and helpful
I attended GenesisCare Oxford over a period of two weeks (alternate days) and the care I received was brilliant. From the reception staff, to the nurses each and everyone of them made my cancer journey all the more comfortable. All my treatment was explained in detail and all questions were answered fully. Nothing was too much much trouble. The facilities were great, allowing my wife, who accompanied me, feel comfortable. There was never any unnecessary delays which is wonderful when you are nervous and want to get the treatments done. Thank you all. I would highly recommend GenesisCare Oxford.
I had a hip replacement and the care kindness and attention I was given by everyone was exceptional every person from the ladies sorting out my daily diet, health care assistants, physiotherapists and nurses were beyond what anyone could expect.
Nurses Hazel, Abby and Tina looked after me in their shifts and I was treated like royalty nothing and I mean nothing was too much. They cared for me like I was their own not just a patient. Thank you so much ..
Brilliant care. I would definitely recommend
I like the area the hospital is in, grounds looked presentable & tidy. I was greeted well by the receptionist. The waiting area was clean and my appoitment was on time. So i wasn't kept waiting too long, before i got to see the consultant. Even the consultation room looked clean & hygenic, something i notice alot as a cleaning lady.
I had my operation in the Treatment room and my Nurse this time was Katie. She was a treasure, never left my side and was so kind and caring, such a lovely person. My only concern is that should I ever be an in patient at Nuffield, Derby the visiting hours are not good For a private hospital, in line with others, I feel visiting should be unrestructed, not just 3 or 4 hours a day. It is even less than an NHS hospital.
I received great care
I would like to place on record my deepest gratitude for the excellent service provided by the entire Bamford suite team.
My family and I were impressed with the empathy, quality of care and effort of the entire team to provide me with the best service.
I ask God to bless all these excellent professionals and that you continue to heal and treat all the patients who receive these diagnoses, continue to believe that we are capable of beating cancer.
1st class treatment and care from nursing staff and especially Jess who was my nurse for the day, she was so nice.
