After having a full hysterectomy in May 2015 I was absolutely astonished and frightened to discover a lump in my breast. I was put in contact with Breast Surgeon, Ms Sascha Dua, by The Nuffield Hospital in Brentwood. Ms Dua saw me in her clinic the very next evening and she saw that I was frightened and concerned as to the discovery I had made. She has an infectious bubbly personality that immediately put me at ease prior to examination. She was warm and supportive and was assisted by Molly her Nurse who assisted throughout the examination. Her attitude was one of positivity and believed that the lump may be nothing more than a simple cyst but, that it would require mammogram and ultrasound to confirm. Unfortunately the results were suspicious requiring biopsies to be taken for analysis. Miss Dua was so concerned that I was taking a long time to return from x ray that as we left she was wandering along the corridor to find me. She asked if everything was ok and then went to see the radiologist. After returning to her office, it was discussed that a tumour had indeed been found and required histological interpretation for further treatment and evaluation. Ms Dua was supportive offering me full support of Molly to discuss further anything that I needed to know. At all time she was approachable, supportive without being like many clinicians who have poor bedside manners. Whilst upset I left the clinic to await the results of the histology knowing that I was in the best hands and that my Surgeon was a person who I could trust. She gave me her contact details , email address and personal phone number stating that I could contact her at anytime day or night. The resulting histology was to confirm cancer. Again supported by Molly, I was told that I had a very unusual tumour that was normally found in the lungs. Also that it was unusual to the fact that there are few cases of such in the world and only a handful in the UK. Again throughout the later consultations she gave me her full support making me feel like an individual, a friend not Doctor and patient. She had case conferences with an Oncologist and later I was directed to that path to have chemotherapy prior to any surgery. After returning from Chemotherapy, Surgery beckoned and I was to have two operations to remove what remained of the tumour. Fortunately Ms Dua and her surgical team extracted all of the tumour and she continued to offer support. Having some problems with seroma and general discomfort I was amazed to find that Ms Dua answered ALL of my emails and texts by return and either resolved the issue by that means or arranged further consultation. Ms Dua remained supportive and compassionate throughout . Ms Dua is an excellent breast surgeon whom is dedicated to the care of patients with breast cancer. She made the whole experience more easier to cope with and her communication skills are second to none. This lady will not let you down and has a wonderful team around her. She can be trusted to assist her patients with a warm, caring and robust attitude, which leaves you feeling at ease during and after treatment. I am just finishing final radiotherapy and I can say that my journey with cancer began as a nightmare but with Ms Dua's support and care eased that nightmare considerably. Ms Sascha Dua is a breast surgeon with an extraordinary skill not only for surgical intervention but friendship and caring compassion. I owe her so much. Mrs Gill Twist May to December 2015

I met Sascha recently with a recurrent problem. She saw me and said what needed to be done and within the week she had me in and had sorted the problem. Her manner with me as a patient was superb, she made me feel comfortable and at ease. It was my first general anaesthetic and I had no worries at all. She saw me before and after the procedure and it was nice to have that personal touch with it. All the breast care nurses that work with her are lovely, the pre op team and nurse looking after me on the day, the anethatist also was lovely who saw me before and post procedure and just made me feel totally comfortable and that's something that with anyone having an operation needs. She has done a lovely job and I'm so happy with the outcome. In my final follow up all was good news and she has said any problems ever to just call and she will help, in the nicest possible way let's hope I don't have to with any breast problems. Five ways to describe this lady! Caring Friendly Inspirational Amazing at her job And...... Great with a needle and thread

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November and was terrified and actually thought my life was over. I am so fortunate that Sascha is my doctor and the surgeon who operated on me. Every time I see her and her nurse Linda I came away from the appointment positive, as every detail of my cancer and treatment was explained and unique to me, as I know now that each diagnosis is different in each case. Sascha recommended that I attend an appointment to see another specialist for a second opinion which I did, to ensure I had the best advice and care for the next stages of treatment. Sascha was available to me whenever I required reassurance or a more detailed explanation. She has definitely made everything much more easier to cope with and for me has made this life changing experience not as awful to live with. She is an amazing doctor who I would whole heartedly recommend to anyone with breast cancer. My life has changed but it's definitely just another stage and I know that in the next 5 years Sascha will be alongside me all the way.

From the first time of visiting the Breast Unit at Broomfield Hospital, through the day of the operation, to receiving the results, Miss Dua dealt with me with kindness, consideration and reassurance. I was not made to feel hurried at any time and was able to ask all the questions I needed. I was given booklets and other information to read at home which I found helpful. Miss Dua and all the team are aware that there is a lot to take in at what is a stressful time for the patient and deal with the situation sympathetically. I am so grateful to her.
