I was recently referred to Miss McCarthy by a consultant whose care I had been under for over a year. He had been trying to help me after the three years of hell I had been through -my original operation ,for an obstetric recto vaginal fistula(and four further surgeries to correct the original surgery) .My surgery performed by a different surgeon hadn't worked out as I was led to believe it would.My current consultant felt due to the complexity of the damage ,Miss Mcarthy would be the best person to help me. We travelled three hours from Cheshire to see her in the McCarthy clinic. Miss McCarthy was well worth the six hour round trip.She listened carefully, and was kind, caring , respectful and very honest about what was a realistic outcome for me. She was also very holistic in her approach , explaining I had trauma and understood what I had been through. I was treated with respect when being examined and when talking about my journey, I was very distressed and her manner was very comforting.We discussed treatments and she to agreed to take control of the situation and treatment plan for me.After seeing seven consultants over three years , Miss McCarthy is by far the best consultant I have seen, her caring attitude and her knowledge are outstanding. I feel that although I have a journey ahead, she is helping me get my life back. It is a privilege to be under her care.I would highly recommend Miss McCarthy, can't thank her enough. Thank you Miss McCarthy 5 stars is inadequate - 10 would have better summarised my true feelings

Miss McCarthy has been amazing for me over the last few years. She has totally understood my issues and has been on my side supporting me and ensuring that I have the right surgeries at the right time for me. Miss McCarthy always listened to me and took on board my views. She was so caring and understanding and I always looked forward to my appointments with her. I can’t thank her enough for the kindness and compassion she gave me during the time I was being treated by her.

Miss Kathryn McCarthy really is the only consultant that I totally trust with my care, she was the first consultant who actually listened and believed that my Surgical Mesh pain wasn’t imaginary. Miss McCarthy has always shown me a great deal of empathy and understanding. She has always been totally honest about my surgery’s possible complications and outcomes. This informative and honest approach has enabled me to make some very big life changing decisions . I was absolutely devastated when Miss McCarthy left colorectal surgery, I am so relieved that she is now back. I recommend Miss McCarthy to every Surgically injured person I come into contact with male and female. She really did save my life and I can never thank her enough.

Re Miss Kathryn McCarthy (Doctor): Dr Kathryn McCarthy performed my colonoscopy. My first impressions of her were that she is a warm professional - always a good start. She explained that which needed explanation in an understandable manner. Her manipulation of the endoscope was masterly: I had to ask if she had got round both corners (splenic and hepatic flexures) as I had not felt the discomfort I previously associated with those parts of the procedure during a previous colonoscopy. She informed me that she had. She was very diligent in taking biopsy samples. She let me watch her screen for the whole of the procedure which was very interesting and reassuring. I can think of no negative points that arose. Dr McCarthy and the nursing staff worked together smoothly, making my visit a pleasure. In conclusion I think that Dr McCarthy is a really good Doctor. The very warm welcome I received on entering the theatre from Kathryn, where she promptly introduced me to the other members in her team today, Lisa and Simone. Kathryn went on to discuss the procedure I was due to undertake and review my recent medical history and fully understanding what I had been through. Kathryn was extremely thorough and professional throughout my procedure as well as extremely caring.
