Miss McCarthy is exceptional. She was very clear with what could go wrong but she gave me confidence that she would do everything possible to ensure a good outcome. My surgery was a success after 2 previous failed attempts by another surgeon and I only wish she had been called in at the first attempt which would have improved my quality of life at least 2+ years sooner. I cannot fault her in anyway and would recommend her to anyone. She's kind, compassionate and most of all she is honest with what can be done and what can go wrong which means you have the necessary tools available for you to make a constructive decision.

I went to Dr McCarthy having suffered with an anal skin tag for many years. She was excellent - her straightforward and approachable manner both at the initial consultation and for the procedure made it a far less daunting experience than it could have been and the results are genuinely life changing. Her staff were also kind and calm I couldn’t recommend her more highly.

My only regret is I wish I had made an appointment to see Miss McCarthy sooner! From the first consultation, she was both caring yet utterly professional, thoroughly explaining what treatment would be required to help me with the health issue I had been struggling with for too long. She listened to my concerns and explained what would be happening during my consultation. After the initial examination, Miss McCarthy was sympathetic and understanding to my needs and was able to talk through all options with me. The actual procedure itself was carried out a few weeks later with much less pain and discomfort than I had imagined. There is always a chaperone present who is also professional yet kind and caring. I was made to feel very comfortable and calm. The treatment was no where near as unpleasant as I had been worried about! After care was explained carefully with every scenario being outlined in full and I left the surgery feeling relieved and well supported. In fact my recovery was much less painful than I had anticipated and all relatively straightforward with the chaperone checking in with me after the first day. I was made to feel that there was always support on hand should I need any advice. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Miss McCarthy!

I'd been suffering with a suspected anal fistula for over a decade. Having been seemingly lost in NHS Wales' system I bit the bullet and did my own research for a private consultation. Kathryn McCarthy immediately appealed to me. A very qualified NHS practitioner, she offers a procedure in her private practice under local anaesthetic and at a very reasonable price. Kathryn and Anushka make a great team and immediately put you at ease. The consultation and fistulotomy procedure is kept very light hearted and I was pleased with the standard of care and Kathryn's direct presentation and obvious skill. Kathryn was detailed in what I should expect during my recovery, which was probably a worse case scenario as I apparently didn't suffer as much as some. Anushka gave me a call the day after the surgery to ensure all was ok and I was encouraged to contact her if I had any issues. Thankfully it all went very smoothly. I found paracetamol/ibuprofen was enough for the discomfort in the first week or so. I used fragrance free toilet wipes for the whole healing period (of about 1 month) and bathed after each visit to the toilet for the first 2 weeks, using epsom salts and a capful of TCP which worked great to ease discomfort though I did smell like the 1980's. I found always night time pads were great to absorb the bleeding in the first week's followed by incontinence pants. 2 months post surgery I am all but recovered. The final consultation was a quick visit. Kathryn advised on methods to ease scar tissue but I think we are all pleased with the result. I am confident that Kathryn and Anushka would be at hand if I require any further assistance. In summary I cant recommend Kathryn McCarthy highly enough. I only wish I'd found the McCarthy Clinic years ago.

I cannot recommend Kathryn and the team enough, from start to finish the experience was professional and efficient. I have Crohn’s disease and had developed anal skin tags as a complication of this. After 15 years of being told again and again by my nhs consultants that removing them wasn’t possible on the nhs, I took the decision to go private. It was without a doubt the BEST decision I have ever made. I am used to talking about bottoms and bowels due to my Crohn’s but I found Kathryn really easy to talk to and super informative. The actual procedure was quick and besides the initial injections it was painless (for me). I felt very at ease and everything was explained to me thoroughly before, during and after the procedure. The recovery for me was up and down with good days and bad but after 6 weeks I feel like a new woman. I can definitely recommend using a sitz bath after and buying a personal bidet if you are having any anal surgery. Thanks Kathryn and Anouska :)
