Stephen has been my doctor for over 10 years now, supporting my journey from HIV diagnosis, through to monitoring and maintenance of my condition as I moved to therapy several years ago. His, patience, kindness, frankness and support have been invaluable whilst I have been on that journey. Never flinching from giving me honest, clear guidance in terms of what he believes is best for me, but at all times respecting my right as the patient to also choose my own path. I trust him implicitly. His commitment to me and all his patients is, I know, 110% and more, even when things are tough for the service and the wider role he takes on. He cares, he listens, he guides. Thank you.

I would like to say what a pleasure it was to have actually found a specialist as you, professional, empathetic and extremely passionate about what you do, all delivered with outstanding professionalism and absolute confidence concerning the condition. You have an approachable manner including a sense of humor that I am accustomed too with my previous specialist, which I believe is also an important part of HIV well being. From reading about you on the internet you also assist in the point I made above, educating the community, contributing to breaking down stigma that unfortunately still exists. When returning to the UK a couple of months ago, I visited two sites concerning my care and the continuation of the START study, I was somewhat disappointed and was anxious during this period as I didn't have the confidence in them. My visit yesterday has reinstalled my absolute faith that I had previously in my care plan in Sydney. I knew it was going to be a challenge to find a Doctor that matched Dr Dayan in Sydney, but I can honestly say you both are great advocates and I've been very fortuitous in being directed to the Heartlands Hospital. After a visit to one site, I was considering pulling out of the trial, and what a waste of nearly 4 years study that would have been. Sorry for the long email, but you need recognising for the above, a complete professional that the HIV community are lucky to have and a great ambassador in the fight against HIV disease. In fact you should look up Dr Linda Dayan, as you have similar qualities, and the same passion about HIV care. I am about to send feedback on the other card I have, but i just wanted to personally thank you. Hope it doesn't sound too over the top but coming from a customer service perspective I always give honest, concise feedback when Ive received outstanding service. A lot of individuals today are all too fond of writing when things don't suit them.

Dr Taylor is professional, informed clearly and considerate. He came over is highly passionate about what he specialises in. He took great care of me today in what is a challenging and worrying time for me. He is reassuring honest and listens. I would recommend this doctor to anyone in my position. You will leave well informed and able to appreciate your condition in a less emotional but more constructive way. I feel very fortunate and lucky to be under his care and guidance.

Firstly, Stephen is very smiley This makes you feel comfortable so that you actively listen and that you are engaged, which is important given that your health care with your doctor is a partnership. Why? Because they are the experts but only you can really respond to improve your health. Stephen was highly recommended to me for that reason alone. Secondly, Stephen is incredibly knowledgeable. What's more, he is able to share this knowledge in a very effective way. Speaking as a senior teacher in secondary school education for over 27 years I can honestly say that Stephen demonstrates both effective teacher and learner behaviours, such as a passion for what he does, confidence, honesty and humility and the ability to reflect almost instantly. Thirdly, Stephen has a fantastic sense of humour. I consider this to be vital in his field of specialist practice. Something he has, frankly, mastered! Above all, Stephen has - without a doubt - enabled me to come to terms with my 'illness' and deal with it in a positive manner such that I feel alive again. How could Stephen improve? I guess nobody is perfect, so I would say let patients know in advance if someone else other than Stephen is likely to accompany him during your consultation; this does not upset me but I could anticipate that some patients might feel uneasy about this and prefer the option to say 'no' rather than be effectively presented with no option once they walk in to the consulting room and find a third party sitting there. Thanks Stephen, are words which seem quite lame give the incredible support he has given me over the last 4 years.
