I was quite nervous to meet him but throughout my assessment got quite comfortable with the situation. Dr Wijayaweera is incredible. He's polite and really friendly. He always puts me at ease. He makes time to ask me how I'm feeling and if I have any questions, which I really appreciate. He strikes the perfect balance between being professional and being human, which has made the experience of receiving my ADHD diagnosis and treatment much, much easier. He genuinely cares about your day-to-day living and wants to find out what's important to you so he can provide you with the best treatment. I wish other doctors would take a leaf out of his book! I'd highly recommend him and Psychiatry UK to anybody looking for a diagnosis or treatment. Thanks you so much!

I have nothing but positive things to say regarding my experience under the care of Dr Sahan Wijayaweera. Taking the big step to receiving an adhd diagnosis, and all that came with that process, at first seemed incredibly daunting especially given the current wait times. But once my assessment had been completed by Dr Wijayaweera (which itself was a very thorough and attentive), I felt a whole lot more at ease and as though Dr Wijayaweera was on my side, a feeling which was consistent during my titration. I would consider myself a bit of a worrier and have had trust issues with medical professionals and processes in the past but I truly have felt in safe hands and now my titration period is at its end, I shall miss the faultless communication and help that I have received. On a more personal level, Dr Wijayaweera is friendly, approachable and diligent and I would recommend him to others.

I am a Consutant Psychiatrist with dual certification in General Adult and Old Age Psychiatry. I have experience and expertise in managing psychiatric conditions in the 18 to 65 and 65 + category.
I currently work in the NHS as an Inpatient Consultant on a ward dealing with functional disorders in Old Age Psychiatry. I work on the General Adult Psychiatry oncall rota thus keeping up to date in both specialities.
My areas of interest are Bipolar disorder, Depressive disorder, Psychosis, Stress and Anxiety disorders, Adjustment disorders, Post Traumatic Stress disorder, Occupational Psychiatry and Dementia.
I practice evidence based medicine and strongly believe in personalised treatment plans made in collaboration with my patients.
I also work independently with Psychiatry-UK providing assessment and treatment for a variety of mental health conditions.
