Dr Rawaf determined that I needed a referral and whilst I waited he kept me regularly updated. Since there was no response to the electronic referral after 3 hours he followed up with ER consultant and it was agreed I should have an MRI scan straight away. I waited quite a while but nevertheless felt I was being well looked after. At change of shift Dr Rawaf briefed me about various possible causes of my symptoms and explained the possible alternative impacts they might have on the clinical process.

There are doctors who look like they are listening but whose body language tells you they would like you to hurry, even if you have a background story that is important in the context of your visit @ A&E, and there are doctors who listen because they believe everything you are about to tell them is important. Dr Rawaf is in the second category. It was a pleasure being treated by him and, critically, he made a point of answering all the questions and concerns I had written on my mobile phone. He also worked out that I like to understand everything about the condition I visited A&E for, not just a remedy, so he made a point of explaining how everything worked, illustrating his explanations with images on his computer. This was my third visit on 3 consecutive days to A&E and he instantly removed all the reservations I had had with my previous 2 visits. He just has a different level of attentiveness and of making sure that all your concerns are answered. Top class.

As a person who is scared of hospitals, this doctor made me feel at ease. Very friendly and kind. Also explained exactly what the problem is, but made it understandable for someone without much knowledge about science.
