My daughters ‘magic cream’ did not take away the pain of the cannula going in which we had not expected so would be nice to avoid that if possible

I am sorry this was the case. The 'magic cream' doesn't always have the desired effect. Sadly some sensation usually remains, and this can make quite a difference in the ease and conduct of cannulation. I am sorry the experience was distressing, for her, but glad that the cannulation was still successful first time in sub-optimal conditions. I hope she has recovered well.

This was the most reassuring part of the procedure from Dr Marshall and his assistant. Everybody at the hospital is so pushed for time that you don’t have a lot of time to ask too many questions even when you are invited to do so. I can’t see that Dr Marshall could have been more kind or considerate.
