Alison Birtle has all you would want in a cancer consultant - she is extremely professional but also very approachable; she puts you at ease, explains clearly what she is doing and why, takes a genuine interest in you and your overall health, never seems rushed during an appointment, makes sure that you have understood what she is recommending and what she intends to do, and is always extremely courteous and polite. She is a real asset to the Lancaster Royal Infirmary.

Dr Birtle, one of the nicest doctors I have ever met. No nonsense, straight talking, kind and compassionate. She has cared for me for the past 10 years, going out of her way to ensure the best treatment is obtained, arranging trials of new treatments, both at Preston and The Marsden in London. Dr Birtle always has time to sit and explain her treatment plans and listens to and addresses your concerns. She treats you like a person and fills you with confidence. I am full of admiration and respect a great Oncologist. Oh by the way, she can be a bit bossy in the nicest way, but I got to admit she has always been right. Thank you.
