Dr. Birtle saw myself and my wife this morning and we both came away feeling better informed and more positive about the future. The doctor was very professional and appeared extremely knowledgeable and experienced. At the same time, she was very approachable and understanding. Dr. Birtle explained things about my condition (prostate cancer) in a much clearer way than most other health professionals that we have seen in the last few years. Up to now, I have been pretty set against radiotherapy as the most appropriate treatment, but she enabled me to see the positive side of the treatment without understating the possible adverse side effects. Her manner was empathetic and sensitive. She had a warm and humorous character whilst always maintaining her professional distance. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Birtle to other patients.

I had no idea what to expect when I went to the Rosemere Cancer Centre in Preston for the first time. It was very busy and my appointment was at 1:30pm. I expected a long wait and was a bit unsettled. At exactly 1;30 I was called and it was Dr Birtle who came to meet me herself. She was so welcoming I immediately relaxed and felt I with someone who was truly on top of her job. She suggested that my wife join in the interview which was a great help. Dr Birtle conducted the interview in a way that made everything natural and easy, (talking about the prostate is not so easy for a layman, but she got all the information out of me without a problem or any embarrassment ). To sum up, Dr. Birtle is fantastic and I could not have had greater care. I will do my best to do exactly what she tells me and feel confident about the programme.

I attended my first appointment with Dr Birtle on 14th December 2018. I have been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and was very apprehensive regarding finding out the details. Doctor Birtle was the ultimate professional, taking so much care explaining exactly where I am at present and what I am likely to experience in future. My wife has also been diagnosed with cancer, on the very same day as mine was confirmed and Dr Birtle was so understanding about us both. I was especially appreciative when she made sure that a complete full account of the interview was posted to me at my home.

I have recently had two consultations with Alison Birtle at Lancaster Hospital and found her friendly caring manner to be very calming and reassuring. She was interested in me as a person and I left with a clear understanding of my prostate cancer and treatment plan. I feel very fortunate to be in Alison's care.

It is always a pleasure to see Dr. Birtle. The care I have had for my bladder cancer over the last five years has been second to none. Anyone fortunate enough to have Alison Birtle looking after them can be sure they are in the best hands possible. NHS care at its best. Thank you Dr. B. Best wishes.
