- Very good consultation in that Dr Birtle addressed both my wife and myself. - Took an interest in me as a person - enquiring about my unusual Christian name, my previous occupation and momentarily chatted about a shared interest in music. - Gave information clearly, explaining things well, inviting questions and answering them fully. - inspired confidence in the pending procedure (radiotherapy) giving a rationale/reason for each step prior to and including this. Explained about side effects and coping strategies for these. - Not at all austere; valued my input in that we are addressing this problem together. - Although running late, I was kept informed about this, offered a beverage whilst waiting and indeed, felt that during the consultation, it wasn't hurried at all. This attributed to alleviating the worry that is associated with such matters.

First appointment with Dr Birtle today and the information she gave me was excellent. It was very informative to how my treatment for prostate cancer would be and I felt very relaxed and assured about my radio therapy which will commence April next year. The hormone therapy implant up to now no side effects. Very grateful for the quick response in my diagnoses.

I met Dr Birtle today in connection with follow up treatment to my radical prostatectomy of 8 years ago. Her consulting room manner was exceptional; she explained all of the issues and proposed treatments in detail and I felt reassured that I was in excellent hands. I left the hospital with a clear plan as to the actions to be taken and with reading matter for perusal at home. Although I have trepidations about the proposed treatments I have every confidence in Dr Birtle's professional advice and actions and am very pleased to have been referred to her.

Having previously been an Head and Neck Cancer Patient and involved on certain Cancer Groups and Peer Reviews, Dr Birtle became known to me through these groups. Having been recently diagnosed with Prostate Cancer I was very pleased when I found that she was to be the Oncologist looking after me. She is very easy to listen to as her explanation's regarding treatment are done in a manner that a layperson can understand. She is very pleasant and immediately you meet her you feel at ease.
