He was very thorough and told me what was happening during the procedure, adapting to my deafness. I was impressed that he came to see back on the ward after the procedure, before he finished for the day , then visited again next morning on Saturday.

Dr Ali Dana is a very focused experienced professional who is very approachable a good listener and takes the patients opinon and point of view seriously on treatment.He is a very skilled Consultant Cardiologist and a very friendly person.He has always replied to any of my concerns i have in Email. If Elective Surgery required always check with Cardiologist's that the Heart Surgeon does have High Volume Mitral Valve Practice as it's important to determine Surgical Expertise of a Surgeon with an interest in Valve Repair and it should be a Surgeon with Mitral Repairs of 25+ Per Year . Reference Mitral Repair Surgeons usually perform a large number of mitral procedures per year. The highest volume Surgeons can be performing over 100 Mitral Valve... Procedures... (which would include valve Replacements per year) . So it's possible to choose your Surgeon and in some instances you may need to travel further afield ,but, you will have a longer Wait.( If your case is Urgent you should follow the professional advice from the Cardiologist on their referral to a suggested Surgeon due to the need to be seen quickly ). Annuloplasty rings are common in repairs procedures . Antibiotics are usually needed with a Ring prior to Dental Cleaning Treatment or Extraction so check with your Surgeon As Oral Hygeine is paramount with a prosthetic.
