Was shocked to arrive on ward to discover my Father, who was confused, had seen the consultant in the morning and had consented to a pacemaker being fitted that afternoon. At no time were the family contacted. Once fitted the hospital wanted to discharge him without an assessment of needs. No further medical care was offered. Sadly he was readmitted to the hospital 4 days after discharge with other medical problems which were most probably the underlying cause of his original collaspe.
