The psychiatrist I spoke to explained each step that we went through during the assessment, including why he was asking and the rationale behind it. I felt that he had looked through my notes thoroughly before the call, and listened to what I was saying during the appointment.

I was treated with respect and dignity, and their responses were always timely (far more timely than my own) and informative. The process was simple enough and I never felt that I was being a burden or that it was too much of a burden on me. I was rarely unsure of anything, and if I was it was easy to ask someone and receive a quick response. Being notified of a new message via text made sure I didn't forget to do anything required of me.
My one issue is with the amount of forms sent out, but even then they were easy to fill out and find. I struggle a lot if I receive too much communication/information, but I feel that this was as easy as it could be.

I was assessed by my Psychiatrist, Dr Soumaya Nasser El Din; it was a very early appointment (6am) which accommodated me going to work without being late. I was incredibly grateful for that. She was patient, understanding and kind.
I was then assigned a prescriber - Colleen Hume, an ADHD Titration Nurse. She was absolutely phenomenal! She kept me informed every step of the way with medication changes and shortages and forms I needed to complete. She patiently explained things to me when my brain refused to compute the information shared.
The service I have received has all been online via one zoom meeting for the initial assessment and then via the portal for all prescription communications. I feel that I have been well supported and all my concerns however small were taken seriously.
I am especially grateful to Colleen, she is exactly what an ADHD Titration Nurse should be. Thank you for looking after me so well.

Overall. A positive experience. However their was a lot of too-ing and fro-ing with forms, online notes etc. Having ADHD made keeping up with these difficult and at times very stressful. The staff were helpful and supportive but at times I needed to reach out for this support and to state that the things I was being asked to do were exactly the things that my ADHD makes very difficult for me. I am not sure. a less confident person or a person with more severe ADHD would have been able to do this. The total number of forms, feedback and notes I had to provide were excessive. I think the option of having someone ask these questions in a non written i.e verbal format would be very helpful for people like me with ADHD and dyslexia.

We pride ourselves on being a neurodiverse-friendly organisation, but we appreciate that the pre-assessment and titration monitoring forms can feel a little overwhelming for some of our patients. Unfortunately they form an essential part of our diagnostic and treatment processes, although our Patient Advocacy Team has recently worked to make these as streamlined and user-friendly as possible. I want to say thank you to Tracie Simpson. Despite only having contact through message she made me feel calm and supported throughout the titration. I started titration at the worst time, during the shortage. She suggested trying a different medication to what I was supposed to be on and it worked! I am so happy that this decision was made because it saved me waiting and suffering for longer than necessary.
She understood my concerns throughout my titration and explained everything and replies very quickly even out of hours. She is so professional and kind.
I am really pleased with the service and my life has changed for the better.
Sorry I didn’t get a proper chance to say thank you through the portal before I got discharged so I hope my message can be delivered!
I want to say thank you so much Tracie. You have had a massive part in changing my life. Thank you for your professionalism and patience. I wish all the best to you!

It’s been life changing I really appreciate psychiatry UK !
I can’t recommend Elisa enough, she’s found the right medication that works for me and has been very patient and flexible which is great for when you’re a working mum and put of tasks due to being overwhelmed but I didn’t feel that which Elisa. Thank you again you’ve given me a better quality of life and my daughter her mum back.

Very good service just for medication. Lisa was amazing & very helpful. Only criticism is all communication is done through online forms which I think most people with adhd find is one of there biggest struggles in life. So tricky but worth it.
