Staff just walk around and chatting while there are lots people waiting been here now for 4hours and no one’s even bothered to updated so far very poor walk in
I am 85 years of age and following a fall I went to the Walk in centre for help. Like so many others I have often been too critical of the NHS but how wrong can you be?.
The waiting room was very busy at the time but I was astounded when a nurse came and asked because of my age they were checking that I was well enough to wait my turn.
When I was called to see the nurse Anne she made me feel totally at ease and following treatment with Xrays etc I left the centre feeling someone actually cared about making sure I was on the road to recovery. Thankyou Anne and the NHS.
The staff who looked after me were brilliant - understanding, sympathetic and very kind. They are doing so well given the present circumstances, thank you.
Really wonderful place. Didn't know it existed until I had run out of options - told on phone by hospital employee that A&E couldn't help, doctors don't work at the weekend and pharmacy staff advised WIC. Very efficient and caring. Wouldn't want to see it closed.
The Walk In Centre at Woking Community Hospital has been moved into a different area of the hospital. It is clean, warm and spacious. Today it took approx 30 to 40 mins (if that) to be checked in, treated and out.
I rang 111 and the walk-in centre, aswell as speaking to a deputy sister who I know back home who all told me to go to the walk-in centre and be seen. I was spoken down to and patronised by the nurse who saw me, asking whether I had asked my mum to put elastoplast (something I’m allergic to) on my injury, which in itself is terrible advice and beyond unprofessional as she does not know my home life. She did not listen to any of my complaint, nor look at my injury, I have never felt so unsatisfied with a service. I then had to make my way to boots where the pharmacist agreed I had received appalling advice which would have led to a nasty infection. Do not waste your time. (I wish I had taken the name of the nurse)
I have visited the walk-in centre a few times over the years and dreaded it every time, knowing that I would be sitting in an overcrowded waiting room and wait 2-3 hours to be seen. However on this occasion it seems there have been some major improvements. They’ve moved the walk-in area to a much larger waiting room with plenty of seating and space. I joined the back of the queue of about 7 people thinking I was going to be waiting all day. However was booked in within 10 minutes and only waited to be seen for 20 minutes! I couldn't believe it. Would definitely recommend going forward.
Rang 111 and they directed me to Woking walk in for my 6yr old daughter who had a sore throat and high temperatures. We checked in waited 45mins. Had excellent care, by a wonderful nurse practitioner who gave us antibiotics on the spot. Brilliant service and top notch care. All in a bank holiday weekend. Thanks so much.
We expected a wait of one hour as advised when booking in; actual wait was two hours with no updates provided. The waiting area was bitterly cold and somewhat cramped; not ideal when you’re unwell. Toileting facilities were not very clean. Cans of drink were overpriced at £1.25 each. You have to pay for parking and it was difficult to find the pay machine. Our nurse practitioner made assumptions that were not correct, didn’t listen to us, did not take a person centred approach and wasn’t helpful. Final advice was to book a GP appointment (if we had been able to do that we wouldn’t have needed the walk in centre). A total waste of 3 hours when my son would have been better off tucked up in bed. Definitely needs lots of improvement. Wouldn’t visit again or recommend to anyone.
What brilliant place. Had a chest infection but could not get a doctors appointment so went to Woking Walk-in Centre. Seen amazingly quickly and after a thorough check over, was told I had bronchitis and given antibiotics
