Review of Breast Screening written by a patient
17th February 2018

I was referred to the Breast Screening unit by my GP due to having breast pain. I was relieved that I could have my appointment at the Breast Screening dept very soon after my referral. At my breast screening unit appointment, I was was seen by the Dr on time who recommended a mammogram and ultrasound. I was impressed and relieved that these procedures and the discussion of their results could be done in a very timely way as part of my appointment (I was expecting to have to make another appointment for these which would not have been ideal). My appointment plus the 2 procedures and resulting discussion were handled in a very efficient manner as I was in the unit for no more than 45 mins. I was impressed by the friendly, competent staff and the respect and care that I received throughout my appointment - I could not have asked for better. Thank you very much!

Review of Accident & Emergency Department written by a patient

I am profoundly deaf and find it difficult to hear my name being called in a busy environment. The was an electronic moving sign in the Department but it was witched off. It would have been easier for me if this sign had been working so that my name could appear when staff were ready for me. The x-ray staff were particularly helpful knowing of my deafness. The nurse practitioner was very helpful and understanding of my condition and I came away with exactly the right help for my presenting problem. Altogether a very good experience.

My visit was not too bad. When I arrived I was not sure which window to go to. It would be helpful if the first window was manned all the time with a clear sign to help those arriving to know what to do/who to speak to first. Waiting time for the first triage was not too long before I was asked to go to "Minor Injuries". At "Minor Injuries" desk I was confused by the instructions but soon realised about the box to leave my form in. It seemed to be a long time before anyone came to pick the form out of the box. Once I was called through, the staff were very thorough, cheerful and helpful.

A huge Thankyou to the Paramedics, ED staff, Coronary Care Staff, Cardiac Catheter Lab Staff and Cardiology Team who looked after my father Alan Harwood 18-19th January after suddenly becoming unwell. Pacemaker fitted within 24hours of onset of symptoms. Fantastic work and compassionate care delivered by all those who were involved. A huge thankyou from all the family.

Attended a&e after advise from 111 was told to go straight through to minor injury so didn't have to wait in a&e (bonus!) :) Once in minor injury i waited 5 mins before being called through to see the nurse. Carnt remember her name (blonde hair) she noticed I was in pain straight away and got me a wheel chair and pain killers asked me a few details and looked at my ankle. She then asked me to go for an x-ray. I sat in the waiting room 15mins before being called in for an x-ray. Then waited another 30mins max before being called in for my results. The nurse (Cindy) and a care assistant ( older lady, carnt remember her name) was very helpful the care assist had got me a pillow to rest my leg on so I was more comfy. Which was very nice of her. The nurse was very helpful she explained everything in detail. Then both ladies helped me learn how to walk with crutches and my new boot. We had a little laugh at the same time which put me at ease. These two ladies whent above what was expected of them. And I would just like to say a big thankyou. Keep up the good work warrington hospital should be proud to have you working for them! Many thanks to you both for all your hard work. Very caring.

Review of ENT Warrington written by a patient

Very short waiting lists- appropriate waiting times. When I walked into have my hearing test, there were 4 professionals in the room however not one of them introduced themselves or their profession. A lady then came into the test room and got the machine out to test my eardrum movements, the procedure or machine was not explained to me, I had to ask. Staff were communicating with each other at times as if I was not in the room. I then went to see the specialist who made me feel at ease and explained everything to me, giving me time to ask questions. During this consultation however, another ?nurse walked in to get a piece of equipment without knocking or apologising. The overall service I received was helpful and supportive, however I felt that the staffs approach to communication and professional ism was very poor and I didn't feel welcomed. I also feel that I had to seek my own information about some of the tests that were administered- so I feel the staff failed to gain my full consent for the assessment and the procedure was brief and incomplete. The letter I received for all your outpatient letters have not stated the reason for the appointment which has been very confusing to know what the appointment is for.
