I was having excruciating pain in my lower abdomen and was sent straight to the gynaecologist ward. Upon arrival I was told to do a urine sample. (I guess to test for pregnancy) when results came back I was not informed of this. Instead I was not given an estimated wait time and was made to sit in freezing waiting room for 5hours +. When asked if the could turn off the AC I was told that there was nothing they could do about it.
After waiting for so long I went to go and ask when I would be seen in which I was told the doctor would see me now.
The doctor named Radi Rahma asked me a serious of questions, the first being “am I currently bleeding” in which I was not and the 2nd being “where is the pain” when I let Radi know Radi said she will not be assisting me as I am not currently pregnant and I am not bleeding nor is the pain near my ovaries.
I corrected Radi and let her know that the pain as a matter of fact was near my ovaries and I had previously come in 3 other times in the last 10-14days whilst I was bleeding heavily.
I asked Radi if she could asses me as had been experiencing this pain for the last 3 weeks and it was getting worse day by day. I was in excruciating pain and was told by 3 other doctors to come to A&E if I later go through this. Radi refused to do any type of check on me, radi did not even feel my stomach nor was I offered pain medication whilst being there.
I asked Radi if I could have a transcript of my visit today and her refusing to provide care to me instead Radi refused and discharged me on the system so no one could no longer access it when requested.
Whilst waiting to see if anyone else could help another service user was in pain and had actually been placed on a ward. The nurses had to tell the doctor that she is due her pain medication. Radi asked the nurse wether it was oral or anal and was not sure of the care that needed to be provided. Other service users Documentation was left unattended in front of me as Radi was not sure what to do and was left unattended.
Overall the worse experience yet.
After 6 hours wait, the GP was treated me with care and professionalism, calling ENT doctor to treat my ear infection. Dr.Wood, was the most amazing person, giving me the right treatment, after 24 hour of treatment I was better. For me A&E at Queen's was a good experience.
During my visit to the hospital I was left for long period of time with no pain relief or answers to my symptoms I was also told my test never got sent of for the reports to be reviewed
The nice male nurse that was treating me was kind and compassionate
The nurses and doctors were mostly kind and helpful although one of the nurses was not vet empathic
Horrible staff. Doctors just sat there with no suggestion no opinions no recommendations except just for reading out my test results. The nurse couldn’t even take my blood the first time , kept on pushing the needle and bruised my veins.
All staff, nurses and doctors were brilliant.
I think they do a fantastic job but are totally understaffed. I feel the system is broken as we all know due to money and staff leaving the NHS so leaving staff shortages. A total of 10 hours from registering to being discharged in my opinion is way too long. I will reiterate I do not blame the overworked nurses and doctors.
Whilst understanding they were busy, there were many times throughout the 11hrs we were there that I had questions or needed items (water/blankets) and had to ask repeatedly before getting them eventually. An EKG was lost and needed redoing.....we waited over an hr to be collected from CT scan and taken back to A&E and spent over 9hrs of the 11 on a trolley in a corridor.
The only positive was the paramedics in the "cohort " who, rather than doing the role they should hve been doing and responding to emergency calls, were babysitting patients in corridors.
They were excellent.
Im immensely grateful for our NHS but also very worried for it....it appears broken and shambolic much of the time....no fault of the staff but it makes a tough job tougher I imagine
Very pleased with our treatment and care provided on the day
I was admitted on the Monday by the hospital but informed there were no beds so had to sleep in a chair in A &E treatment room. But the nurses were great. The next day I had a bed in the hall way shut off to the public. I understand the shortage of beds and was cared for well by the nurses. The following day I was admitted to a ward. I saw the doctor on the 3rd day. I asked the nurses if all the checks I was having were going to the doctors and was informed they were. This made me feel safe knowing that whilst I had not seen a doctor they were fully aware of my medical condition and regular checks. I cannot thank Queens hospital enough for all the checks they completed. I’m now waiting for my after care checks to start. Regards Julia sutton
