Several very poor experiences. Needed an appointment to discuss a problem, but no, they wouldn't give me one. Instead, got shunted off to a locum at Penrith Hospital on a Saturday morning.
Needed a follow up appointment to discuss increasing the medication dosage increase re above, but no, best they would offer was a phone call with a locum at Carlisle Hospital, at 8.30 in the evening.
Dispensary is a joke. Prior to transferring here form Penrith, we used a postal dispensing service, (Well Pharmacy) which were excellent. Could we continue this? No, you have to use their in-house dispensary. Meds are often not ready, or are incomplete. Last straw was a large portion of a recent prescription that was unavailable. No probs I thought, I'll just ask them to pop it in the post. No, they won't do that. Do we have neighbours that could collect? No. Could I drive in myself? No, I'm house bound! Do I have a carer that could collect? No, she's away for 4 weeks. Sorry, can't help you then!
I give up.
Transferring to Appleby ASAP. Can't possibly be worse.
Terrible reception staff. Dreadful incompetent dispensing staff. Prescriptions never ready. Prescriptions often wrong or incomplete. Manager is offensive and patronising blames everything else for their incompetent running of a once excellent practice.
The dispensary are not up to the job. 3 times the prescription has not been fulfilled even though a longer than requested time had elapsed. Today asked to wait for 20 minutes whilst the prescription was fulfilled or come back. A round trip of about 10 miles. NOT acceptable.
Whilst I understand that the practice relies on the pharmacy for its continued existence the staff are killing off the practice. I think I'll get my prescriptions elsewhere and maybe delivered free.
The doctors and nurses have always treated me well, however, this surgery is let down by the reception team. Who, on multiple occasions, missed crucial details on medical forms leading to them not being completed or being invalid. They also seem to be unable to book future repeat appointments when they are booked over a month in advance. Finally when confronted with a complaint nothing seems to have been done about it leaving me feeling extremely frustrated.
The receptionists were extremely knowledgable polite and empathetic in a difficult situation.
Our GP was superb, going above and beyond by giving us great suggestions and listening to my concerns. I only wish this GP practice was closer to my home. An absolute treasure of a place.
