You’ll see above that I have given five stars and if I could quadruple that score I would. I had knee replacement surgery six weeks ago by Mr Clifton and his surgical team. I had chosen Fitzwilliam based on feedback from others and had a great experience. From returning from surgery to now, six weeks later, I have been pain free, walking unaided after three days, and have full movement in the joint. My physio had told me prior to surgery, that Mr Clifton was the best surgeon you could ask for, and I totally agree. The whole experience, team, nurses, whole staff, Mr Clifton especially, thank you. Highly recommend.

I have never been in hospital before and I'm 71 years old. So when the time came for a TKR I was duly anxious. However, from my first meeting with Mr Clifton I was put at ease. He explained to me comprehensively about my TKR. On the day of my operation he was attentive. Today, now 6 weeks later and going for my follow up appointment, I found Mr Clifton to be understanding and professional.

Mr Clifton was very good from me first having a right knee issue (which I decided not to take further due to the difficulty I experienced with my left knee arthroscopy under a different consultant. Said knee got worse and I was re-referred to Mr Clifton. he saw that the fist operation had not solved the issue and the tear was larger than expected. We went through the procedure again. He was very clear in explaining everything before and, despite the 2nd operation being "more aggressive" the recovery was amazing and I was able to walk without crutches within 2 days. I was dumbfounded and delighted with the result. I still have a 6 - month revisit to check the healing but I do not expect any problems. I would recommend Mr Clifton every day of the week

I have known Mr Rupert Clifton as an out-patient for nearly four years during which time he guided me through treatment for osteo-arthritis in my left knee. He always listened to my description of the condition, and laid out the options before me. The decision was always mine, guided by him, but never taken by him. When I felt that the treatments had done all they could and the arthritis was affecting the quality of my life, Mr Clifton supported me in the decision to opt for knee replacement. He described the whole process of designing, procurring and fitting the replacement. He also explained what might go wrong and the risks, which are pretty much the same for any surgery of this kind. He also set out the costs and funding options. The great thing I remember was his absolute confidence in the decision - it instantly quelled any qualms I may have had. The day of the operation was perfect, I felt surrounded by a highly skilled team who supported me the whole time and I felt safe and confident throughout. Post operative support has been equally top notch. If you are looking for an osteo- surgeon, I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Clifton.

Thank you Mr Clifton for the right full knee replacement you did for me in March this year. You explained everything to me on my pre operation appointment & willingly answered a few extra questions I had too. On the day of my operation you spoke to me before & after my operation & this was reassuring. My operation went very well thanks to your expertise & skill. I am now 6 weeks after my operation & healing well. This is the second full knee replacement you have done successfully for me. After my first operation I knew I would need the 2nd one done too at some point & you were obviously my 1st choice to do this too I would recommend you to anyone needing knee surgery & would like to finish with a huge thank you for all of your help.
