Before my operation, I was totally immobilised and after consultation with Mr. Lee he gave me hope. After several visits to see him I had my operation, which was very extensive, in February 2020. After several months of recuperation and gently exercise, I can stand for a long time with no longer any pain in my back or left leg. I can also walk a fair distance without pain and, weather permitting, have a daily walk. I can only say what a brilliant surgeon Mr. Lee is for giving me back my life. I am totally impressed with the level of care I have received and on-going monitoring.
I was referred to Mr Lee following a series of surgeries to improve a disc/scoliosis problem in my lumbar region. My initial consultation offered the choices available, given the available evidence, and we talked through both the options and the procedures, likely outcomes and risks. Everything was very clear, reasonable and logical and I was very happy with the approach Mr Lee took and his clear explanations. The operation went well, without issue and the aftercare and detailed explanation of recovery and rehabilitation clear and concise. Together with Mr Lee the team at the RNOH were outstanding. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr. Lee for orthopaedic surgery.
I came to see Mr Lee for my symptoms of radiating pain along the back of both legs and on and off back ache. I was investigated at local hospital and I had an MRI scan and I was told I can have spinal injection. My son worked with Mr Lee he was very confident about his surgery and he wanted me to come to see him. He was a very kind and a friendly person and explained to me about the condition and my symptoms will not get better over long term with an spinal injection I had more scans at Royal Orthopoedic hospital. And he explained to me and showed me and my son my problem was getting worse. My son and I was very confident about Mr Lee and agreed for surgery. I had surgery in 2019 April. ALIF and posterior fixation of L5 -S1. Mr Lee explained to me about every step of the way from surgery to recovery and also the common complications that can happen. As we had confidence in him specially my son was very happy for me to go through major surgery under Mr Lee as he knew he was a great surgeon. Mr Lee has a very good team and I was treated very well. After major surgery I could walk to the toilet on the 3rd day Shower on the 4th day walk up and down the stairs by 5thday came home on the 6th or 7day morning I am completely pain free and able to do any thing within 8-10weeks including driving.
Now I am so happy that I had surgery I have also traveled abroad after surgery.
With my experience I am happy to recommend to any one to go through surgery by Mr Lee as he is a great surgeon and also a very kind ans caring person and I had the best care by him and his team.
I would like to recommend Dr Lee and his Team to others about the Magic, Wonderful and Excellent surgery performed at the London Irish Ward to me Sam ODONKOR.
He earlier gave me appointment to his office including one of the nurses and briefed me what my problem was, he explained to me what he can do to save my situation.
He also explained the implications with regard to the operation and the outcome conditions.
Thereafter went ahead to read books
about my problems, I contact and visit people with similar issues but upon what I saw and all the advises , it reflects to me after the operation that Dr Lee has gone extra mile in my operation. I left the Ward Walking as a Normal Person except for the pains of my wounds. Quite different from what Friends told me before I went to the Hospital.Oh,am very grateful to God, Dr Lee and the Team for the MAGIC and EXCELLENT Performance.
Best regards!
Mr Lee took time to listen to my numerous questions, explain in detail what the surgeries would involve. He fully explained How long and what expectations I could have for recovery as well as how long the procedures would take. I choose not to ask about the technical side of surgeries pre op which he respected .
He was clear in stating the risks, not just of the actual surgeries but also of complications and recovery time and the effectiveness of the ops. I appreciated this and he did not pressure me to make a quick decision. But respected it was a life changing decision and therefore took time to make.
The only area I feel he could have improved was to perhaps demonstrate empathy for my pre op situation, pain and mental health and that I had contemplated long and hard before even getting to the stage of being considered by him and RNOH for corrective surgeries.
