An outstanding surgeon and a delightful individual. Very skillfully performed two reciprocal procedures, during the course of my operation last December, a nephrectomy and closure of an ostomy site. His actions have allowed me to resume quality of life and a return to previous activity. To say that I will always be grateful to him for this would be a considerable understatement. Thank you Mr Barod.

Mr Barod dealt with a difficult situation, with an elderly patient with renal-cell carcinoma and multiple comorbidities who was reluctant to come to the Royal Free.
He took the history and context carefully and thoroughly, and offered a clear, humane and comprehensible set of options.
Many surgeons are famous for having a bedside manner almost inversely proportional to their skills. Mr Barod is extraordinary in having both at a very high level.

I chose Mr Barod because his published results were outstanding and the Royal Free is the center of excellence for kidney cancer.
One our first meeting he immediately inspired confidence in his abilities and he was kind and thoughtful . He was very open about treatment and his care for me was outstanding.
I feel he is the top of his field and I owe him a great deal.

This is the first time we met Dr Ravi Barod. He was very friendly and very professional in his work. His explanation of my wife's kidney cancer and the likely treatment options was excellent. It was easy to understand and made it much easier for us to decide our preferred options.

Mr Ravi Barod is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at The Specialist Centre for Kidney Cancer at The Royal Free Hospital. He is one of the highest volume kidney cancer surgeons in the UK.
After completing his urological training in London, he undertook a two year robotic surgery fellowship, mentored by pioneers of the technique in Detroit, USA. While there, he mastered complex robotic surgical techniques and he has bought this unique expertise back to the UK.
He has a strong and active track record in research and has completed a PhD investigating the molecular genetics of kidney cancer at University College London.
He is dedicated to achieve outstanding patient care, driven by clinical and academic excellence.
