Mr Kirkland listened to me very attentively.
He showed great concern about what I felt
Was wrong with me.
I felt his examination on me was done in a good manner and done thoroughly.
He was both friendly and professional.
In my follow up with him. He explained very explicitly on what the outcome of my scan was

I have recently had surgery, performed by Paul Kirkland, to remove a rogue parathyroid gland. He has been helpful, informative and professional throughout as has Rebecca, his secretary and I can thoroughly recommend him. In all honesty I can say that he has given me my life back again.

From my very first appointment I was impressed by Mr Kirkland’s care, thoughtfulness, diagnostic accuracy and reassurance. Even after my operation he continued to impress and showed his willingness to ‘go the extra mile’ to ensure a rapid post operative recovery.

Paul Kirkland is a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeon for the East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust, working at both the Conquest and Eastbourne District General Hospitals since 2005.
He qualified at St Thomas' Hospital Medical School, London in 1989 and received his specialist ENT training in London. He was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He is on the General Medical Council's Specialist Register.
He undertook further specialist training in head and neck surgery at the Royal Marsden Hospital and advance training thyroid and parathyroid surgery at the Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospitals.
He was also awarded a fellowship by the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and spent time training in two centres of excellence in Amsterdam and Stuttgart.
Whilst he treats all general ENT disorders affecting both adults and children, he specialises in treatment of the sinuses thyroid, parathyroid, salivary glands, and skin lesions of the face and neck.
In all of these conditions Paul offers minimally invasive and endoscopic surgical techniques. These have been clinically proven to speed up a patients post-operative recovery and also helps to reduce the time spent in hospital.
He was the ENT clinical lead at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust from 2013 to 2018. He is also a member of the Sussex thyroid and East Sussex Parathyroid multidisciplinary teams.
He performs around 80 thyroid and 50 parathyroid operations each year. He enters his Thyroid and Parathyroid surgical outcomes data onto the national online database which can be viewed by the public at: www.baets.org.uk
