I had cataract surgery for both eyes with separate procedures under Mr Georgopoulos. Previously, I was substantially short sighted with astigmatism in left eye and my optician recommended that I should consider cataract surgery as the cataracts worsened. I chose Mr Georgopoulos after seeing him as an NHS patient two years previously and I was at that time impressed with his skill, care, attention and overall professionalism. I was operated on as a private patient in East Surrey Limpsfield ward and I cannot begin to say how delighted I am with the result. I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes after years of struggling with glasses and contact lenses. Mr Georgopoulos is skilled, knowledgeable and caring. If you are at all nervous of cataract surgery (as I was) then be assured that he is the right choice of eye surgeon as he will spend time explaining your diagnosis and alternative approaches and treatments before surgery. Also, all the staff in Limpsfield Eye unit at East Surrey Hospital were fabulous.

On 18th December 2020 I attended East Surrey Hospital for a Cataract plus Stent Operation arranged at quite short notice. This followed a routine follow up by new comer, Dr Arij Daas, carried out in an exemplary and considerate manner at Crawley Hospital on 22/10/20. During this visit the need for a Cataract procedure was confirmed by Dr Georgopoulos who took the time to see me. Mr Georgopoulos and all the associated reception and nursing staff are to be commended for their brilliant service, resulting in a remarkable improvement to my eyesight. Despite the Covid 19 restrictions that were in place, all staff made every effort to ensure my utmost comfort, safety and health which certainly justifies the ‘Outstanding’ banner that is displayed at the Hospital Entrance.

I had my cataract operation about 9 weeks ago and my review of how it had worked just over a week ago. Throughout my time which now stretches to nearly two years since my first appointment with East Surrey ophthalmology I can have no complaints. Originally under Mr Herbert for possible Glaucoma towards the end of 2019 I switched to Mr Georgopoulos. I have him and his team excellent. He listened and explained in a way that gave me the greatest confidence. My eyesight has significantly improved as a result of my first cataract operation and once times get back to normal after this Virus has been dealt with I hope to have my second cataract done. He is supported by a team and unfortunately I can not recall all their names but please thank them all.
