I had three appointments and two with Mr Barrett for achilles tendon rupture, I consider Mr Barrett easy to talk to and informative but he was severely let down by his NHS trust. I had no communication whatsoever from the trust, all all appointments had to be achieved by me phoning to say an appointment was due, to this day 8 weeks on I have still not heard anything from the physiotherapy department!

Dr Barrett was open, friendly and professional. He explained everything clearly and listened to my questions without making me feel rushed. I felt at ease and confident that I was getting sound advice both for my injury and ongoing recovery.

I’ve had two appointments with Mr Barrett and spoken to him once on the phone. On the phone, I found it hard to interject and say anything myself on the call. Mr Barrett seemed in a rush and that he did not have to time to listen to my concerns. During the appointments at the hospital, Mr Barrett seemed to have more time to listen to me but I felt that what he told me was very generic for my injury (ruptured Achilles), no personal care was given. I think this is not so much a problem with Mr Barrett but with the care given to sports injuries, which seems to be a patch up job, not getting patients back to full mobility and sports.

Mr Barrett treated me for a ruptured tendon in my left knee on July 18. The operation and the details of the treatment were clearly explained. The operation has been successful following surgery and the subsequent physiotherapy to September 17. During the post-operation phase he monitored the situation effectively both in person and with information from colleagues. His manner was professional, effective and left me informed and confident that my recovery was proceeding well. I was discharged on September 17 ahead of schedule and with excellent progress made towards recuperation. Overall I can express a high level of satisfaction with the treatment he gave me.
