I had great experience with a hernia repair surgery at Mr Kirkby-Bott's clinic. I had to go private, as my hernia was not life-threatening enough to qualify for NHS treatment, but I am very glad that I did, regardless of the cost. Everything went very smoothly, from my initial consultation through pre-operative checks to the surgery itself, which took place in a matter of weeks, with many thanks not just to Mr Kirkby-Bott for patching me up so well, but also to the anaesthesiologist and nursing team at the Spire hospital. I particularly appreciated very detailed advice on post-operative care and self-management, including very helpful printed materials, which made the recovery surprisingly quick and unproblematic (and the advice about wearing hernia briefs was excellent).

Mr Kirby-Bott removed my gallbladder two weeks ago. I decided to go privately to skip the long waiting list on the nhs. I had already had a biodegradable drain inserted in my blocked bile duct and knew it would only last 12 weeks. Mr Kirkby-Bott and his team were amazing, they listened to my concerns and explained every step of the way from consultation to surgery. I had keyhole surgery and was a day case which meant I was home within 8 hours. Great care was taken by all staff to ensure everything went smoothly.

For me, the rapidness of being able to get a consultation and following the pre op assessment the quick timetabling of the operation was important to me, as such this consultant was recommended. I did read his reviews and was reassured that I was in good hands. This played out on the day of my operation, and the speed of my recovery was amazing. I am thankful that I had the operation, that Mr Kirky-Bott was my surgeon, and had a good team. I wish that I had done it earlier.

I first met Mr. Kirkby-Bott after being referred by my GP. After an examination he explained the best way forward was surgery. I asked if it was possible to have the operation privately as the pain was interfering with daily life. He told me about his private clinic, Hampshire Hernia Clinic and how he operated using a local anaesthetic and sedation, avoiding a general anaesthetic. Although I was a little concerned he reassured me that I would be fine. I could more or less choose when to have the operation. Due to personal circumstances I decided to wait just three weeks. The whole procedure was painless, I left the hospital just over two hours after the surgery. I would highly recommend Mr. Kirkby-Bott, easy to talk too, very reassuring, and top rate surgeon using a very good private hospital.
