I have received excellent treatment from Mr Childs and his teams. I have been kept completely aware of all procedures, implications and timescales around the successful hip replacement surgery. After six weeks, I no longer need to use crutches at all and the pain related to the previously deteriorating hip joint has completely ceased. It is noteworthy that I took private physiotherapy for six months to strengthen the hip and knee joints in preparation for surgery and I acted on any advice given. Overall, my experience has been extremely positive though I feel the Beaumont Hospital could look at improving its Administration system and there seems to be an overheating issue in the consulting rooms and around IT during the summer months.

Mr Childs is a warm, friendly and very professional Doctor who is clearly highly skilled in his area of expertise. He put me at my ease almost immediately. He genuinely listened and explained the procedure, pros and cons along with recovery time in a way that meant I was well informed. The care from the wider team including Jon the anaesthetist and ward team was also excellent. I felt I was being cared for by a well led team and I can’t thank Mr Childs and the team enough for my new hip. When my other hip requires surgery I would feel myself to be very fortunate to be under the care of Mr Childs once again.

Mr.Childs under the tutelage of Mr.Marley did a great job of myT.K.R. Of course I was a little apprehensive about the operation even though it was a Revision T.K.R. The post op consultation with Mr.Marley reiterated my belief that Mr. Childs is a first-class surgeon.

Mr Childs gave me lots of information from the outset. He explained my treatment options, the resulting discomforts following surgery and the long term benefits of a new knee. I was happy to go ahead with this operation, having full confidence in his expertise and now, thanks to his skill and that of the theatre staff, I look forward to being fully mobile once again.
